Ann had stopped her car on her way to work. She was now sitting, at the side of the road in the drivers seat. Her heart was racing.
She had just passed ’that’ house.
Because of traffic she had had to take a different route than usual. No fuss, no hurry. She had been on her way to her job to finish off the paperwork. She wanted to get it out of the way so she could keep a good vacation in good conscious.
The hospital had just hired a new team of skilled neurosurgeons. She was essentially not needed today. All she had to do was get the paperwork done.
But… she had just passed ‘that’ house.
As per usual, when she treated herself to driving past this beautiful lane of Middleton, she slowed down. In order to… soak in the scenery. She had noticed a lot of men where outside doing chores in the gardens, or washing cars. Mr. Robinson had scrubbed his car so much the foam was gone.
Ann knew what they were looking at, or at least hoping to get a glimpse off. Ann turned her head, and then she looked with experienced eyes. She was in luck. The most gorgeous and wonderful woman stood in her short nightgown and seemed to look for something in the living room. Which she soon left.
Tonnie Rockwaller.
Ann had reached the end of the road, but she had turned into the side of the road, as if to park the car. Her heart was racing in her chest.
3 Years…
It sounded like madness in her head and felt like 30. But it had really only been 3 years since they had ended their… relationship. Mostly because of the rumors. Ann and Tonnie had almost been caught at the annual skiing trip for Middleton high when they both had been chaperons. The hot bubble bath at the lodge had simply been too big a temptation for both of them.
Apparently some of the kids had gotten a little suspicious and started a rumor about Mrs. Rockwaller and Mrs. Possible.
Both Kimmie and Bonnie had been quick to kill the rumors but to Ann it had been a wake-up call.
She was married, had 3 kids and a career to consider. Any rumor of this kind could end it all for her. So she had broken it off.
Tonnie had been understanding. She always had been. It had been tearful, because Ann truly loved Tonnie. She loved her like none other… expect of course for… him...
Images of Tonnie and their many moments together filled her head. She couldn’t shake them off. It was like a sweet dream, or a beautiful nightmare.
And the horrible sex with her husband last night filled her with utter dare.
She turned off the car. Took her bag and left the car.
She then marched over to the Rockwaller residence.
She hesitated once again at the end of the lot, but the little red demon on her shoulder had won the argument. She walked up to the front door with her hear throbbing in her throat.
She rang the doorbell.
A few moments later, the door swung open.
Ann was met with the scented air of flowers and plants, and that particular vanilla coconut scent the Rockwaller girls were so fond of.
Tonnie Rockwaller, looked like a goddess in her purple nightgown. Ann knew that nightgown. It had been a gift… from her.
Tonnie made huge eyes and looked at Ann in utter surprise.
Tonnie: Ann?
Ann‘s heart nearly exploded in euphoria when she heard the voice utter her name again.
Then… her instinct took over…
