The goddess of youth.
Possibly a goddess of fertility and most likely an a goddess to mimic the greek Demeter - a goddess of the harvest.
The nordic gods had a male character more predominant in that role. Frey, Freyaβs brother (maybe twin).
But Idun is barely mentioned in any story. Even though she and her apples are the source of youth and strength of the gods in Norse mythology.
If I could add any traits on herβ¦ and I can π, I would give her the same abilities as the Hesperides in Greek mythology.
They were daughters of Atlas - the strongest of all Titans - they were nymphs of the golden evening, and they had the garden which grew the golden apples. I think we could make Idun a distant relative of Atlas and thereby a relative to the Hesperides, and she might have gotten a few apples to plant some trees in Asgard. Thereby making her a Greek goddess - or a relative of the greek proto-gods known as Titans.
I think this tale of hers hold promise as I would like to give her traits.
One trait is, that her apples are so sacred and so bounded to her, that she is the only deity who can pluck the damn things without them vanishing and simply reappear on the tree. It would signify her importance to the gods, and give them a reason to keep her safe and happy.
I hope you like her. I really enjoyed working on her.
Yours truly
