I would also install PlatformUpdate related KB960362, KB971512, KB971513, KB971514, KB2117917 (you mentioned this one) Probably also kb2864202 (USB), KB975823 (SD) KB4019276 (TLS) KB4493730 (servicing stack) than kb4474419-v4 KB4019478 (d3dcompiler47), I use a pre-integrated installation iso, so I don't know if more are needed, perhaps those that you mentioned are enough, but you may be missing other updates related to compatibility

If so, create the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps registry key to produce crash dumps that can help resolve this issue (normally present in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps). Also make sure that Second System was fully uninstalled before upgrading.

If not, then it will not work as the Steam Client is unable to patch a game using a different kernel32 from the client itself when launching. But if CS2 itself does not work for other reasons, I will be able to work on it, as long as it doesn't require AVX2. I am in the process of further correcting DXGI if that is causing problems as well in response to performance issues with the Windows 8.1 D3D11 runtime when used on Windows 7.

2026-02-16 20:20:36 +0000 UTCAre you planning to fix cs2? It runs natively without secondsystem, but if launched through steam, no matter if eazyblacks or native, if secondsystem is installed, it won't launch. It has been reported by other users on discord aswell.

I finally can use 8.1 as main again, but I can't upgrade to a newer version cause it immediately breaks, chrome,rocket league, mafia 2 and some other games
