A psychic. A witch… it’s really hard to describe. It’s something both humans and gods can be. And I think it’s mostly women who posses the abilities of a Vølve.
I guess you could simply say it’s a witch, but pop culture has made that particular word mean something with a wand, a funny hat and often the trusty side character 🤭
A Vølve is something less manipulative and more instinctive. A vølve was something considered both a mage, a healer, a guide and a clairvoyant back in the day, and they were held in great regard in Norse mythology. Freja was actually a deity for the magic they possessed, making her pretty much the main Vølve.
The word might be hard to figure out to pronounce, so I will give you a hand.
Know the word ‘Valve’? It is pretty close, and the sound you need to make is just a little deeper than the A’ sound. A mix of O and E. It’s hard I know, Danish is fucked up.
