Making the swap.

I’ve beaten this planetary motor as much as I can. It had some great things going for it.

It does have one downfall.

What I mean is it does reduce artifacts a bit like moire and such BUT the typical 602 is still there just muted. Why??? Having some thoughts I believe part of 602 is stress on the motor shaft. The Bondtech extruder has the main drive gear pinned inside bearings at the both ends and the toothed gear in the middle. The planetary motor actually has just one bearing holding the shaft in place. There are two bearings holding the drive shaft but the actual shaft we place the Bondtech toothed gear on is only supported by one bearing leaving it open to stresses. It’s better but overall it doesn’t compete with the Bondtech extruder or bunny science.

I’m running test prints with the exact same hotend and parts but with the Bondtech extruder and my initial observation is the quality of the print is similar but the moire and typical uneven extrusion is far more minimized.

Back to more testing.
