Actually it does. There are 3 categories- Pureblood, Halfblood and Mudblood. Muggleborns are Mudblood - meaning 2 muggle parents. Halfbloods have at least one parent from a magical family. Purebloods have two set of pureblood families. The entire system is completely senseless, and is a social construct to emphasize the ridiculousness of such hierarchies build on something as inherently stupid as status. It is meant to create a distance between “classes”. In fact it’s one of the best analogies ever made to describe society’s internal problems.
