While the legs and breasts are feminine and exaggerated enough to remind us that Mary is something of a goddess, or supernatural at the least, on Earth. Good choice of costume too. I think Adam Hughes invented it for one of his pin-ups in the 1990s. It's always been too risqué for DC to use in a comic, but has become beloved in the fan art community.
