Why he wasn't the one embracing Jonny

I want to go back to the end of Birthday Night storyline quickly. After posting it on instagram, some of the readers has raised the question as to why Garrett was not the one who went to pick Jonny up. Maybe that remark was made here too, I'm not entirely sure. Anyway, let's talk about it for a bit, in case it wasn't clear in the comic.
During that time, Garrett's motivation was shifting. As someone who seemed to only care about what he wanted, he was taking a step back for self-reflection. The last time he and Jonny interacted, it ended with physical violence and hurtful insults. He knew he had to keep his distance even when he saw Jonny in that position. The same reason he did not attack Jonny's dad, even though you could tell he wanted to. Jonny broke his silence and practically begged him not to call the police. As much as Jonny's dad should go to jail, it was not Garrett's decision to make, or any of Jonny's friends’. What anyone can and should do at that point was to be there and protect their wounded friend. Garrett and Jonny were nothing to each other when it happened, and it only made sense that the person who got close to Jonny that night was Danny.
