Overanalyzing Korra: The Coronation

Posting this one from my phone because I'm home for the holidays. Someone tell me if this works or not.

Overanalyzing Korra: The Coronation

The way i interpret Toph being able to see even in the swamp mud is that maybe the watery consistency helps carry the vibrations, and she picks up on them similarly to how lateral lines on fish work

I don't often disagree with you, but I think it absolutely makes sense that Korra is scared to go back to her old self. If you look at everything she has done to try to heal, she's actually been sabotaging herself from healing, and she must know that at some level. She has a hard life, why wouldn't she be scared to go back to it? When she lies about not being the avatar, there's more symbolism there than just trying to stay under cover

For the dishes in the hotel room, in hotels, when you use and are done with dishes, you generally put them outside your room for the cleaners to pick up. Likely Wu had some tea for like an afternoon snack and left the dishes out to be cleaned

8:25 : I think Toph being able to see through the Vines is more akin to Guru Pathik tracing Aang’s energy through Appa’ it’s more about energy manipulation/bending, than elemental bending. Remember that was the original benfing form according to ATLA’s lion turtle. Merry Chrysler.

Awesome episode! I really hope you mention when we get to the Su flashback how stupid her reasoning is for not trying to lead the relief effort. It’s very funny how Kuvira practically had the responsibility pushed on her and she what at the very least was an effective if ironfisted effort at putting the earth kingdom back together. Kuvira brings up the fact that she did the work no one else wanted to do, but our cast really only responds with vague accusations of how she’s a bad person rather than acknowledging it is entirely their fault for leaving such a massive power vacuum completely open.

I think it worked.

I wish they’d have leaned a little harder into Toph seeing the world through the tree, actually. Water and (in particular) air benders are kind of implied to be innately, culturally spiritual. Season 2 even drove home traditional water bending being a spiritual act. Earth and Fire nations/benders don’t really have that anywhere… Except for in Iroh. And now (potentially), in Toph. Having ALL forms of bending able to dig into spiritual roots in distinct ways is an interesting concept.
