Overanalyzing Korra: Kuvira's Gambit

Is it really a gambit if you have a robot the size of a building

Overanalyzing Korra: Kuvira's Gambit

Comments

The Baatar Jr hostage has one of the most infuriating moments in the whole show for me. At first when she says "I'll never let you see her ever again", I thought it kind of took away her good guy status. May not be physically harming him, but still threatening to make him suffer if he doesn't do what she wants. But then, I figured she must be doing it because she knew Kuvira would attack anyway, thus proving to Baatar that she's evil and convincing him to help them. But thennnnnn... Nope, none of that. Not only was Korra essentially okay with torturing him as long as it passed nickelodian censors, but the writers also couldn't capitalize on good writing when they stumbled onto it by accident...

Kuvira really does keep that thang on her

It seems to just be a passive strength boost that the avatar has. Basically, the red lotus could’ve capped Korra by identifying any toddlers in the water tribe that can bench 240

Trey McGee

The avatar state strength boost always jumped out at me too but it becomes slightly less of a problem when you rewatch bitter work and see aang, at 12 years 99 pounds, carrying an ostrich horse sized boulder on his back, while clearly not in the avatar state and not being a proficient enough earthbender for the feat to be handwaved.

I think the runescape joke and dart gags were some of the funniest bits yet across your atla and korra videos

You should start an overanalyzing attack on titan after this 👀

So what's next after Korra?

BeheadedByHenry

Korra deadlifting a grown man, at full arm extension, confirms my theory that bending makes you superhuman. We see benders walk off human sized boulders and fire blasts but the instant a non-bender gets hit they crumple *Cough* Cough* Jet.

Chibi

Even worse, they involved children in their plan, the thing that ATLA condemns.

ignoring the... elephant in the room... I still think that we never really get to see the earth empire military *or* the republic military fight is kinda lame. we couldve had a really cool fight scene but instead we got big dumb giant laser

I guess that "oath of non-aggression" excludes kidnapping

To me the Batarr Jr threat is the closest the show and maybe even series ever gets to just being a cartoon. Like OA says as soon as they return him Kuvira she just blows up Republic City, she’s evil. But obviously since it’s a kids show they can’t threaten to murder the guy, but it reminds of the 4kids one piece dub where they have Nami’s mom locked in a dungeon instead of executed.

Random fact: In the German version, Bolin says at the beginning of the next episode that he's lifting a massive METAL wall, which implies that he's a metalbender—something that isn’t stated in the original version. Don't know why they did that...

Johnny

You ever see that episode of Futurama where time skips years ahead for random people? The Earth Empires ability to spawn tech out of no where is basically that

maskofthedragon

surprised Longshot didn’t pop up at 9:45

Took me three watches to understand the Korra drops her items joke. A+
