For a good while, THIS was my favorite episode. I'd still say it's in my top five. Something about the ensemble of characters we've been getting to know coming together in an epic climax. Never entirely sure who is on whose side. If anyone who casually watched the show was feeling lost, this would be a good episode to set them straight on who all the main players are and where they stand. And it's also satisfying for people who have been following so far. That moment where Zuko shows up between Aang and Azula was always satisfying to me because, like you said, it hits you how long it's been since Aang and Zuko have seen each other. Same with Azula. Sure, Aang met her before, but not properly. This is the episode where Aang and the others truly are introduced to Azula and know who she is. Most villains aren't given that much build-up before their showdown with the main character. And that's kinda the point. All these characters we've been following from different sides, finally confronting one another. And in the mix, there's some neat little character drama within each faction. I love Toph and Katara's little squabble. I love Zuko and Iroh coming to realize how much they need each other. I love the little bits of comic relief showing the dynamic of Azula's crew. It's just GOOD! It's a good episode! I also just like chases. Mad Max Fury Road, Tom and Jerry, etc. Watching all the warring factions try to adapt their strategy the more obstacles in their way. Azula is a solid villain. Zuko wasn't in it a ton, but he still leaves an impact as the wild card. Great character dynamics established within the Gaang. Good times all around.
