They were all fed to Appa. What else could they be feeding him on that ship? It doesn't look big enough to be storing weeks and weeks worth of food to feed something as big as he is...

What happened to the crew of the captured ship? Was there a massacre of 105 (based on a destroyer class ship, which seems to me to be about the same size as the Fire Nation ship) crew members off screen? Are they tied up in the haul? Were they thrown overboard?

Interesting and ironic that zuko’s family is cold and distance despite being from the fire nation while katara’s family is warm and love despite being from the South Pole

I think the reason why Roku can just show up now is because Aang can access the spirit world much more easily, including his past lives.

You were probably joking, but I think Roku showing up during Aang's emotional low point makes sense. Roku manifested twice without some kind of spiritual catalyst, once to Jeong Jeong and the other at the Earth Kingdom when Aang thought the Earth Kingdom general buried Katara. I kind of saw the Winter Solstice as "unlocking" Aang's ability to connect to Roku.
Also, I am so glad they showed my girl Yue waterbending as the moon spirit!!!!!!!!

Yeah I always assumed it was like how Katara can bend water she can’t see. She can sense where it is with her bending so it makes sense that Toph can sense earth in the air.

I always took the ability for Aang to see his past lives as a development of his spiritual power/progress as the Avatar. In season one he didn't even necessarily want to be the Avatar nor did he know how to be one either so he needs extra spiritual juice to talk to his past lives. By book 2 he can talk to Roku while in the Avatar state when he learns about the cycle ending if he dies while in it. By season 3 he has fully accepted his role as the Avatar and has progressed spiritually with his Guru training enough to see Roku when he needs the encouragement. The end of season 3 is the end of this arc imo when he talks to his past lives on command even talking to Avatars other than Roku. Just my observation though.

I think Aang just had to unlock his connection to Roku to have access to him. After the winter solstice and going into Roku Avatar State to kick ass, I believe Aang no longer needed the spiritual boost of the solstice to be able to speak with him. This also shows when he calls up past avatars for advice toward the end of this season.
Love it, love this content, keep it up.

Good stuff as always. My response to your comment about what Aang is trying to do when he goes out on his own is simply the fact that he's an extremely emotionally distraught 12 year old. Think of the stupidly irrational decisions we all made around that age. I think it works perfectly, it makes total sense for a 12 year old to act so stupidly there IMO.

I think that the duke is actually guiding Toph’s shots. It seems like he has a hand on her back probably adjusting or telling her where to aim. Since he moved her as well. That’s why she said “load the toph” like she’s just a gun that needs to be fired
