Fun Facts #4

Not too sure if this still counts as “fun” facts haha. But before the new season starts, I want to share some major changes I made in the past season and some storyline elements that didn’t quite make it into the comic.

Zeke vs Faceless Torso:

In the original outline of season 6, the two Faceless Torso aka Zeke’s anxiety and self-doubt were supposed to have a big fight with Zeke in the finale, with Danny swooping in to save him at the end. I however changed my mind by the end of the last season. As it felt more empowering to have Zeke coming to term with the personified version of his struggle on his own. And thus, the fight scene with Faceless Torso happened in the dream sequence when they were introduced instead.

Cedro:

Remember Zeke’s flashback in the “Zeke & Cedro” storyline? About half of it was planned for season 5. Around the time Zeke lost the engagement ring and decided to postpone his proposing plan. That would have been the original introduction of Cedro. But there were already too many storylines in that season, and so it was pushed/combined with the bullying flashback in season 6.

Terran & Byson:

This change was actually the one that came out of nowhere but made a lot of sense in the end. Terran’s first hookup after the death of Joe was supposed to be with a new character who I called “Mustache Man”. But I wanted to utilize the current characters a bit more instead of bringing in a one-off character. And Byson makes the most sense since he hasn’t really had a romantic interest before. It’ll be different how this dynamic will grow. And perhaps I can put Mustache Man elsewhere.

Jonny & Sev:

This may be a bit of a controversial change but I do think it’s for the best. In the original script, Jonny was supposed to catch Garrett and Sev nearly in the act, and it caused a much bigger rift between Jorrett. This storyline was changed just the week I started sketching the pages. I immediately felt like it would be too much for Jonny to come to terms with and settled with just a kiss. The boy has been through enough! Aside from this one key event though, their arc will continue as planned in the next season.
