2024-01-22 14:01:07 +0000 UTCI only started listening to this series earlier today, but I've never had to fight back tears whilst reading, listening, playing, or watching any piece of horror content, no matter the medium. When I realized that I was starting to fight back tears during the readings, sometime between episodes 3 and 10, I was genuinely baffled. This series managed to evoke a true sense of dread within me, an emotional state I haven't really experienced before in over 20 decades of life. I'm not even sure if "dread" is an accurate word for my emotional state while listening to the podcast. "Fear", "dread", "anxiety", it's like debating between using "wine" or "alcohol" to describe what you're drinking. Only the connotations are different. To be honest, even after thinking about it for a little over 3 hours now, I'm still not quite sure why I almost started crying. I guess that just speaks to the power of words and the phenomenal voice acting of Jonathan Sims. You don't have to understand the emotion or be able to name it in order to experience it.
