$20 Backer Tier?

If we were to create a $20 backer tier, what would you like to see?

Basically, because that's quite a lot of money a month, we want to make sure that, if we do create this tier, it's a) Something people feel is worth the price tag and b) Soemthing we can actually deliver. There's no point us promising the moon only to fail and leave people who are giving us money just because they want to (that's you lot, it's still incredible you're all here) feeling cheated or lied to.

Leave a comment below to let us know what you'd be interested in (and if you like someone else's suggestion, favourite it).

It would have to be things that don't cost you that much to make. Outtakes/bloopers; behind-the-scenes video content; short, personalized phone message/ringtone from the Archivist (or other cast member of choice); having your name (or the name of someone you choose) being used in a statement.

I truly love this show, and i wany to support it the best i can, but 20dollar seems out of my league - . -||| but things i could suggest probably will be outtakes or the expansion of magnus archive lore. But those would take alot of effort and time from Jonny and im sure he has his hands full on the main show already. Such burden might be too much for him if not detrimental to the quality of the main show. Other suggestion would be side story of other characters, as suggested by Harper. Interesting and i would love to see that happen. But then does that alone worth the higher pledge price? Probably more rewards can be bundle in together to increase its.. "worthiness"? Lol

One interesting idea is for 20 dollar backers to appear as background characters in the stories.

I’m not sure I’m in the market for 20/month even on my fav podcast, but I’m going to go against the flow and NOT call out for physical goods. I think the best return is deeper/broader storytelling delivered outside the main storyline - like a Magnus Universe of stories & lore.

I'm just such a huge fan of Magnus I don't even want any rewards. You can have as much of my money as you want, you've already earned it.

I do understand that these things are hella complex to output and that Jonny (and everyone else at RQG) is probably insanely busy, but I do worry the knock on effect that tier 4 would have on the content for the lower tiers. But, then, I would say that, as I wouldn't want to go any higher :)

I agree with Elin on the bloopers. I also would give a small fortune for small audio clips that dictate the daily lives of Magnus characters. Like, I want to see how grumpy Elias is without a morning coffee/tea, how Martin comes up with his poetry, Tim's struggles with his landlord, or Jon trying to coexist with Georgie.

I like the idea of the Amazon wishlist and the snail mail!

Unedited episodes or segments from RQG? Some kind of director's commentary?

Hazel

Oh my!

I think those are very fair concerns. For what it's worth, we're intending on getting the Deluxe Transcripts back up and running as soon as possible. Unfortunately they require Jonny's time and right now he's focusing on getting Season 3 written. I'll have a chat to him about when we're likely to see more of them.

Funny you should mention that...

I pretty much agree with Josh Harper-Cole, but even though you said you aren't gonna do it, I would probably give you all my savings for a blooper.

Physical goods might be tough, considering you don't know how long someone plans to back at that level. Backer A backs for one month, gets his shirt and cancels. Backer B backs for a year and gets... a shirt? Exclusive (or significantly timed exclusive) content might be interesting, but you'd be producing them for a very small segment of backers so it might be cost/benefit/time prohibitive. Maybe short Magnus audio interludes that don't necessarily tie into the main plot, but flesh out the universe a bit more -- to be released for all once the series is over. Maybe also consider other funding options, like an Amazon Wishlist for needed items? Game developers will sometimes set up a "bagel fund" so you can treat the team to snacks, etc., and then post on social media thanking the person. Maybe a gaming session for backers of a certain level, kind of like during the charity broadcast there was some audience participation. Or maybe all backers of a certain level would be able to listen in to a live recording session/team meeting? Or maybe backers of a certain level get a snail mail letter from the archivist, as if they had submitted a statement. ("Thank you Justin, for your statement of 12/23/17 regarding your suspicions that space gnomes steal your toenail clippings in the middle of the night. If you have further details..."). Lots of options.

Some magnus archive shirts or hats, or a personalized "spooky message" from the head archivist would be cool.

I'm not sure if there's anything I'd want for a $20 backer tier. I already pay as much as something like Netflix or Spotify and I don't think I could justify that to myself, even with some really cool bonuses. I'm at the $10 tier mark for three reasons: to support the two amazing podcasts that you guys produce; to listen to TMA a day early; and to get the deluxe scripts for TMA, which haven't been coming out very regularly, nor are quite what I expected. I really don't think I'd be able to back you guys $20 a month, because the stuff I was really interested in was in the $10, and I've not seen as much as, or exactly what, I was expecting. I’d also be quite worried about a $20 tier resulting in even less content for the $10 tier Patreons.

Maybe recording outtakes from both MAG and RQG? Or some behind the scenes updates/ information? Or short messages from the crew?
