Magnus Archives Transcripts
Added 2017-12-27 13:41:33 +0000 UTCHey folks,
Just a quick note to say we're moving to a centralised repository of Transcripts in the future. You can find them here:
https://rustyquillcom.sharepoint.com/:f:/g/EoErhOh-I9pGhHp49IpLUeoBL2O2AqOKWSMsIlTPVQtWYw
There are three reasons we're changing this:
1) It's an absolute nightmare to trawl through the backlog of Patreon posts, even when using the tag, so this should make it much easier for everyone.
2) It'll make it a lot easier for people to share transcripts around. They're public, so people shouldn't think they're only for patrons (which posting on Patreon implies, even if the posts are public).
3) It was only ever meant to be a temporary thing, before we moved the archive over to the website, but we still need to properly redesign the site and keeping people waiting any longer as is.
Also worth mentioning that we've finally completed the transcripts for Season 1! Plus we're over halfway through Season 2, so it won't be too long until we have a full record of episodes. Also Anil is the one who does all of the transcribing (which is a lot of work given he has to make sure the scripts match what we ended up recording - we often make a bunch of changes during recording sessions) so throw him some love if you wish, he's the reason the transcripts exist.
Comments
I also received the notification for the new link – I had noticed that it was down a couple months ago, but had assumed that it was intended as you guys were working on reformatting ^^” Lots of interesting stuff in the new files: the gaps from season 2 and season 3 are now completed with the new format, yay! And there are almost all the missing ones from season 4! (I had heard it right and Elias had INDEED kicked out that door in MAG118, I’m delighted to have canon-transcript confirmation on that :D). Just in case: it seems that some of the new transcripts in that batch are still wip, such as MAG132 (with a few things that sound more like sound directions rather than descriptions, etc.), so I’m not 100% sure they were meant to become public, even temporarily? :3 And finally: once again, many thanks to Anil for all those years he worked on the transcripts ♥ I have no idea if he’s still working on them/is involved in the planned update, but the ones he handled have been an absolute delight, and I made a lot of progress in my audio comprehension skills of English by listening along with the transcripts three years ago. I have many memories of us fans highlighting and sharing our favourite transcripts moments when it came to sound descriptions, and I’m in awe of how he always managed to convey so much in such few words and dynamic (funny and/or efficient) sentences ♥

2022-01-08 00:57:39 +0000 UTCQuick FYI that an edit to this post this morning triggered resending this post to all current patrons - I assume the last paragraph currently is more reflective of the original update four years ago? That being said, I am always happy to send more love Anil's way for his fabulous TMA transcripts. Those transcripts have been such an integral part of my TMA experience revisiting past episodes and hunting connections across them. I would not have gotten nearly as hooked on red-stringing without them, and they remain a great pleasure to revisit. Will the current gaps in official transcripts eventually be addressed? I remain grateful to the fans who stepped in to help cover those gaps with unofficial versions, and those who have volunteered time to create and maintain the github for text search across transcripts - definitely setting a standard of what a repository of transcripts can enable for a given podcast beyond any single file. Still, I find Anil's versions are the ones that consistently bring out the nuances between the spoken words performed that make me look again, and want to listen again. These are works of art in their own right - I wish there was an audioverse award category for podcast transcripts to nominate them for, because they absolutely deserve that recognition.

2022-01-06 23:06:49 +0000 UTCSorry to miss this message! We will look into this issue and get back to you.

2022-01-06 18:24:20 +0000 UTCSorry, but it still doesn't work. Looks like now I would need to have specific access to the sharepoint directory? (Even though the link looks like it should be public?) Or maybe now it's just me because I'm a new patron?

2021-12-16 20:41:46 +0000 UTCSorry about that! Not sure why it did that, but I've replaced it again! Let me know if it doesn't work now.

2021-12-16 17:16:37 +0000 UTCThe link still doesn't work, not sure if it's the same issue or a new one. I only get a 404 error.

2021-12-16 16:14:06 +0000 UTCThank you for alerting us! We've replaced the broken link, and it should work now. Do also keep an eye on the weekly transcript updates in the newsletter (and on the website) for when new versions for the whole of the show are due to be released.

2021-12-13 10:31:57 +0000 UTCThe link above doesn't work for me anymore. Is it just me or has it been moved?

2021-12-13 00:15:21 +0000 UTCThese are an absolute godsend! Thankyou Anil! However not sure if anyone is aware but I was wondering why the scripts go from ep45 to ep68? 👀

2021-03-01 21:40:25 +0000 UTCThese are incredible :O Thanks for making them available! I'm wondering if you're ever planning on putting them all together into a sort of script-book, perhaps after the finale next March? I would buy the hell out of that.

2020-05-23 08:13:14 +0000 UTCHmm... These transcripts are very high quality. Thanks, Anil and everyone else. My main critique is that, as far as I know, it takes less than twenty to twenty-five minutes per episode to reformat transcripts at this level to something compatible with the caption system of YouTube and post them to the service. Please consider doing so. Great series, please keep up the good work and stay safe.

2017-12-30 14:35:51 +0000 UTCI'm also happy to do the same! I've actually already typed up a load of transcripts for some friends to peruse, and I'd be happy to format them to match what's currently up. :)

2017-12-27 22:38:21 +0000 UTCHey guys! I sent you a little email before Christmas saying that I am an on and off stenographer - this means I can type around 250 wpm so could make a nice little transcript on an episode in around an hour. Totally happy to help you guys out catching up with the backlog as it will take me loads less time than Anil. Happy to do it for free. Let me know if I can help out :)

2017-12-27 19:31:11 +0000 UTCThank you Anil for your hard work! The transcripts are really helpful for when I want to go back and check on details and hints dropped in previous episodes.
