Statement of Monday 30th March 2020, concerning the launch of Season 5 of The Magnus Archives. Newspost begins...
Welcome the beginning of the end. A journey we started on 24th March 2016 (and good catch to the eagle-eyed amongst you who drew the connection with the trailer launch date last week). We're entering a whole new world for The Archives. Though just how brave such people in it are, remains to be seen... Join us on Thursday 2nd April to See just what's gone down (Wednesday for early access Patrons).
So, it's only fitting that we have a brand new logo to kick things off in high gear! We thought it was about time that we gave the logo a bit of an update, as well as help differentiate it a bit more from RQGaming. This fantastic piece from graphical artist Anika Khan (who also designed the Stellar Firma logo), really captures the intensity and aesthetic that the show brings. In their own words:
“The intersecting straight lines are meant to evoke the ritualistic and the occult. Those familiar with the show will understand the connection of rituals to the main plot. The tape is a connection to the existing logo whilst the loose form of the tape is also meant to look like both an owl that connects to the Magnus Institute’s owl insignia as well as the skull seen in original The Magnus Archives logo. The relevance of webs and spiders will also be clear to any fans of the show.”
If you like this new design as much as we do, we'll be adding it to the Redbubble store in April, along with some other exciting artwork, for you to get hold of.
EDIT: Please do not share this image just yet, this is just for you all at the moment. There will be a public reveal later in the week.
And don't forget if you want to talk with your fellow fans about the show, as it drops or just after, we have specific channels on our Discord server for that (#tma-spoilers or #early-access for Knights & Nobles).
In other news from RustyTowers - we all remain in good spirits and we're still plugging away at getting our new operating practices into effect. Naturally, sourcing equipment and making sure it can get to people is not the easiest at the current time, but we'll find a way.
If you haven't listened to Alex's statement last week regarding our current state of affairs, I strongly suggest you do - it's on all of our primary show feeds and you can find a copy of the statement on our website HERE. I'd just like to reiterate that we're committed to supporting our crew & community, and the global support efforts, which is why we've taken the decision to donate 10% of our monthly Patreon revenues from March onward to the WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, for as long as it's feasible for us to do so. We also fully understand in these times, if you need to reduce or cancel any financial support you are giving us - that is not a problem at all, your self-care & well-being is more important.
You may have seen that other crew members have been using this time to try their hand at streaming, and we encourage you to give them a follow. We'll be using social media to let you know when they're doing things, as and when we know. Plus, we're looking to see if we can expand the RQ Streams project - admittedly, it's a little faster than we expected - and bring you more shows each week, including some more chill, 'just chatting' kind of shows - starting this afternoon with Anil at 5.30pm BST talking about RPG characters he has played!
Also, this weekend is Virtual Horror Con which Rusty Quill will be supporting & taking part in! Run by Gehenna Gaming, this will be an online gathering & celebration of two things RQ is well-placed for :-D Several members of the crew will be on panels that will be streamed throughout the weekend - check HERE for the latest details.
Reminder that, probably the quickest way to find out about things going on and taking part, is either by following our Twitter (@therustyquill) or by joining like-minded fans on the official Discord server (though be sure to check out the #rules channel first to familiarise yourself with the Community Guidelines).
