AI feels like the artifice of Delusion tbh, or the Stranger, depending on the angle

Void

yayyy happy ending for the gays

Rurrie

Uh. I just realized the Lonely could absolutely create a whole domain out of AI generated stuff. It's all the same, it's all recognizable at first glance and it's all somehow wrong. Ugh, I knew I disliked AI stuff for a reason.

"It doesn't even need to tell you any lies...it just waits for the lies you tell yourself." BUGHHHH

FyreFlye23

This episode really speaks to me. I can imagine my self trapped in one. Definitely gonna die inside the house 😂

Grace

This episode hit me where I live. I've been vaguely horrified, more than once, by the ghastly, bleak endlessness of the suburbs, and how interchangeable they all are. As the playground of the Lonely, they're perfect and I can now never, ever, ever visit a fair chunk of my friends because now that's all I'm going to see when I drive into their neighborhood so THANKS FOR THAT lol.

Somehow my fave detail in this one is "Melanie thinks the therapist thinks she's working for the Tories". Yep, that is what I'd assume someone who started talking about how she should conscientiously object from the system designed to cause human suffering.

Nikki Bee

yes yes yes yes yes. yes thank you

sAZAndorable

" guy who hired her and the guy she's -literally talking to- are neither of those things" Unless they're both a mass of eyeballs that just think they're still human. But I get your point

Fizzer

There's definitely something to be said about the fact that the guy who hired her and the guy she's -literally talking to- are neither of those things, and yet also quite dangerous in their own right. Sometimes evil doesn't wear a spooky costume.

Poor Melanie. She’s trying to get help and knows it would be the perfect opportunity of which a power would take advantage. Despite her knowledge and awareness, that Therapist is not right and Melanie isn’t able to see it. Not because she doesn’t want to - she literally has no chance.

Gilligan Mungus

" She's definitely not these three things" Right, got it, she is definitely those things and probably more.

Fizzer

This was a sad one and the excellent voice acting with John and Melanie - you can hear the exhaustion and just worn-downedness. So very good.

Gilligan Mungus

The Lonely gives me chills. Too real.

MKCR

Oh wow. The Lonely are always my favorite episodes because they scare me so much and as someone who grew up in identical military housing this was scarily realistic. Fantastic statement, the bit about no one missing the woman was a nice touch and I love the dialogue between Jon and Melanie at the end

Heather Nichols

Every episode I'm worried about -someone- and frankly, I'm emotionally exhausted. Now I have to worry about John's paralysis by indecision and Melanie defiantly grinding to a halt. :p This was a really good, beautiful statement. Definitely one I'll be relistening to for a few days. The world created by The Lonely is so intriguingly haunting! All of the details peppered throughout were so striking and evocative.
