Giving as good as you're gaming

Hi folks,

Merry Monday from all of us at Rusty Towers! After a weekend where a degree of optimism feels like it can bloom again, we hope that all of you are safe and well wherever you are. And although the end of the year is fast approaching, there is still plenty of activity here to be getting on with, what with the end of Act II of The Magnus Archives and the coming launch for Season 3 of Stellar Firma!

Amidst all that activity, we’d also like to announce two new folks joining the RQ Crew. Please join us in welcoming Gabriel Garcia and Rhys Tirado as our new Technical Assistants! They will be guided by CTO Martyn to help the crew with any technical problems arising as well as helping to improve our IT systems and resilience.

As a quick reminder, Act II of The Magnus Archives Season 5 will be coming to a close on 26th November, with the public release of MAG189 – in just three weeks’ time. And when we resume with Act III on 14th January 2021, our course to the finale will be well and truly set. Rest assured, we’ve got a number of plans for this final break, including some retrospectives as the cast reminisce, and we gear up for 2021 and the show’s fifth anniversary!

in big news this week, I am very pleased that, after much discussion and reorganisation, we can officially confirm that Rusty Quill: Gaming & Giving 2020 (RQGG20) is going ahead! For those of you who may not know, Gaming & Giving is our annual charity event, since 2017, where we stream board & video games – as well as other shenanigans – to raise money for a good cause. To date we have raised around £20,000 for the betterment of mental health in the UK. This year we will be raising money for multiple charities, with everything raised being split equally between them, and I’ll be announcing those soon.

Unfortunately, the current global situation has meant postponing would have been our biggest live & audience participation event to date, but we were still determined to go ahead in some form. So, we ask that you join the Crew and special guests on Saturday 12th December 2020, at 11am GMT for a 24 hour stream of games & activities! And while we can’t be all together, this does give us a special opportunity for our US Crew members to also take part in the fun & fundraising! We’ll be streaming the whole thing on our Twitch channel over at www.twitch.tv/rusty_quilland are looking forward to welcoming you all to our very first all day stream.

In other streaming news, we welcome another Crew member making their debut on the channel this week, as Autumn Jarvis, our Community Assistant, takes the reins this Sunday. You may have already seen her as the fantastic, yet long-suffering, GM for James Ross’  Dungeons & Leopards streaming project, and this week she’ll be looking at some fast-paced rogue-lites! Additionally, Mike is unavailable this week, so I will be taking his slot for a double-helping of more chilled chaos in his stead – as I finally take a proper look at Crusader Kings III, and also react to some clips (that I won’t have seen in advance) from RQGGs past.
