Performance in the public eye

Hi folks,

Happy Monday from Rusty Towers! November proceeds apace and we’re just two episodes away from bringing the curtain down on Act II of The Magnus Archives’ final season. While we’ve got a number of things prepped to take you through this interlude over the festive season, we’re also looking ahead to 2021 and the run to the finale in March. Plus there’s also the return of Stellar Firma on 4th December and the 24 hour charity extravaganza that is RQ: Gaming & Giving 2020 on 12th December to look forward to!

Quick update on an ongoing project, as folks may recall that one of our recent Patreon milestones was to look into the possibility of improving the accessibility of our shows by means of transcripts for Stellar Firma and Rusty Quill Gaming. Having looked into it, we’ve realised that this needs to be part of a larger project that also includes things like captioning on our YouTube videos, talking to consultants, and making sure considerations are made at the planning stages for new shows.

To keep you updated, here is a summary of where we are at currently with our existing main shows.

The Magnus Archives – Current episodes are being transcribed in-house, and will continue to be through to MAG200. The existing gaps in main show episodes that have already been done (albeit unformatted) will be released by the end of the year, and worked on to bring into line with the new formatting.

Stellar Firma – Transcripts for Season 3 will be handled in-house. Those for Seasons 1 and 2 are in the process of being purchased from a group of fan transcribers, and should be available from us directly by the end of the year.

Rusty Quill Gaming – Due to the extent and significant complexity of transcribing hundreds of hours of multi-voice unscripted audio, we are currently investigating professional transcription services who can handle this bulk work, with the aim of also providing the necessary files for video captioning.

We are also in the process of setting up a new space on our website so folks can better access the existing files. Broadly speaking, this is a large project that is going to take a great deal of time and resources to complete with regards to our back catalogue, so we appreciate your patience whilst we work on this.

In other news, the Audio Verse Awards final shortlists for each category were announced this past weekend, and I’m pleased to say that Rusty Quill shows and performers succeeded in getting through in a majority of cases. Thank you so much to everyone who voted previously to get us to this point. The final round of voting is NOW OPEN until 5th December 2020, with winners to be notified in January.
