The discussions were great! I would also just listen to Helen describe reality shows she watched for hours.. if you ever run out of ideas for bonus content

This was hilarious and wonderful, and I very much appreciated the discussion of "high"/"low" culture and finding out how everyone had interpreted "trash tv".

I've recently gotten obsessed with Supernatural and this episode makes me feel so much more justified in that.

I just started watching Teen Wolf for the first time with my kid, and I almost fell off the sofa laughing at the juice bit.

I'm in love with this series! It is so interesting to hear different perspectives of what constitutes a genre, and the psychology behind it! I didn't expect this from "Trash TV", but the insight given here was just incredible. I loved it!

I've really enjoyed this podcast with Helen so much. Her personality is so bubbly and she seems perfect for anyone to bounce ideas off of. Also, I learned that I can listen to Helen talk about anything- recently listened to your one about Lord of the Rings, which I could not careless about, and I was still excited for every moment. I really hope that eventually the Rusty Quill team will do an episode about supernatural TV dramas, like: Supernatural, Lucifer, Grimm, and Once Upon a Time. I think it would be amazing to talk about how trashy, corny, and just plan weird must of them get in comparison to books, especially because I feel like most of the TV show end terribly.

Youtube is EXCELLENT for editing out all the boring bits and just giving you all amazing plotlines and highlights of WWE stuff, FYI. Watching it live can be a real slog, just because the shows can be four hours long.

I would just like to share, apropos of nothing, that to me trash tv reached its peak with season 2 of Vanderpump Rules and the work of art that was the "Stassi insists her ex Jax and frenemy Kristin have been and are continuing to hook up behind her back; looks increasingly paranoid and unhinged; is finally vindicated as the truth is revealed, the liars are unveiled and the heroine, Stassi, revels in vanquishing her foes and seeing them driven before her" arc. Nothing in reality tv has been as satisfying to me on a storytelling level since. Everything came together - the raw material, the shaping of the storytelling in the editing, the deployment of the arc over the season - it was art. Many prestige tv series wish they could have achieved this level of craft. (Also I love Enthusigasm, it is wonderful, I hope there is lots more!)
