RQG 179 - Eat, Drink and Be Merry

Comments

Alex, I *adore* your "I unno!" noise because it is perfect.

CrochetDemon

Yet another comment agreeing with this! Especially after Helen's comments in 181 about how she appreciates Alex's handling of relationship stuff in the show, and Ben's thoughtfulness about his personal boundaries. It would be fascinating.

ontologicallyunjust

"they say mimicry is the greatest form of flatter" LMAO. ahhh this was such a lovely episode all around.

ThirdFromTheLeft

Also how Lydia played Sasha (no relationships for personal reasons) vs. Cel, who has had several previous marriages and is very much ready to mingle. How much did the players talk with Alex in advance about the different aspects/ what they would be comfortable roleplaying? How does one fit a relationship into an action plot (often fast-moving), keep it natural, give it the right amount of focus? What do you need to watch out for when dealing with PC/PC vs. PC/NPC relationships? What about other types of relationship (e.g. Hamid and his close family)? Yes, a metacast would be really interesting.

GugTheGoose

Dear RQG cast and crew, I appreciate you all so much. As a very awkward autistic nonbinary ace I particularly appreciate Zolf and Cel, but that isn't to say everything and everyone else in this episode wasn't an absolute delight as well. Also kudos to Alex for succesfully and compellingly continuing to juggle his troupe of NPCs.

Kirsti S

Yes! Exactly! Thanks for articulating this better than I did, haha

Hearth of the Fae

Love the new title! This episode was so wholesome, I love how dedicated and thoughtful Helen is in regards to Azu's love life, bless her!! I was waiting to hear about Kiko again 🥺 and Zolf/Oscar is just.... Wow, they've both come such a long way, it's amazing, and it doesn't feel rushed or forced either. Just things falling into place naturally, aka, awkwardly. Good job 👏👏👏 who said Alex never gave nice things... ((Wait don't tell him I said that or he'll go back to making things explode again)) Also I love hearing the other players' reactions when things happen for other characters!! That makes me happy 😁 Can't wait for my best friend to listen to this one 😊✨

Sashvinx

Yes! I would love a romance/relationship metacast, especially because the Zolf/Wilde thing kind of just... happened naturally? I'd love to know if Ben went into this arc with any thoughts about it or how it was worked through on the player side.

Marie

Hear that sound in the distance? That's the sound of me screaming through this entire episode.

Marie

All the smiles and grins. I loved this episode so much.

Chris Sims

Aaaaaaaamazing as always!! I think this episode makes my top five. Also makes me want a metacast about handling romances/relationships in ttrpgs.

Hearth of the Fae

alternate title: how oscar got his magic back

Every time I think I can't possibly love these characters any more than I already do, yall find a way to tug my heartstrings in new ways!! I'm a wreck now, thanks everyone ❤

The Magnus Archives Was A Comedy

My heart melted💜 This is everything I could have wanted, especially with everyone trying hard and failing to not react in the background

Gilligan Mungus

I love Azu so much?!?!!!?? Also, Helen still has all the best reactions ♥️♥️♥️

Laure Gagnon-Tremblay

What an incredibly wonderful episode!! 💖💖💖

CrazyChopstick

Delightful!

Liz M

"I listen to rqg for the plot!" I say as I repeatedly listen to this episode because of all the adorable relationship developments in it

Freya

Delightful! All of the people got to be happy. AJN even got a few dice rolls. The title is perfectly descriptive... and I'm trying not to think about how that expression usually ends. I'm sure it will be fine.

eleanor is fine

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

HoloXam

I really appreciate all the delighted noises in the background for this one :)

Sara Norris

CEL AND BARNES, OH MY GOD!!! I LOVE!!

Abigail Espinoza

God i loved the portrayl of emotionally constipated people trying to communicate intimate feelings bc so often it looks like large love confessions and complete vulnerability. Like, as a lesbian, I relate to azu and kikos awkward flirting/uhaul nature but as a somewhat closed off person I relate to zolf and Oscar's ambiguous slow burn. Basically...GOOD JOB YALL
