love Helen <3

Rurrie

Is this one a... cellular fear? Animals can have fears. Do cells?

Rurrie

"Bye-eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" XD

Rurrie

"You're *really* not helping :(" "I'm not trying to :)"

FyreFlye23

Real life personal fear: wide open spaces, i.e. The Vast. Episode in which I got a shout out: The Vast. Does this happen to anyone else??? Lol love it (and yes, i'm noticing this weeks late but I heard a shout out in the newest Stellar Firma short and decided to go back and see what else it popped up on)

Hayley Phoenix

Simon saying "byeEEEE" sent me

Katy DeCoste

I am absurdly chuffed with the sound of Simon cheerfully slamming into the ground. I like to believe he climbs out of a looney toons-esque simon-shaped crater

Lurkin

Is it wrong to be amused by Simon? I know I'm supposed to hate him because , bad guy, but I find him amusing and much more fun than Peter Lukas. As well as Helen. I want the apocalypse to be over but can we settle for them just going back to small times instead of utter destruction? Martin is making me nervous. I understand he's under a huge amount of stress but the guilt that the Archivist is taking upon himself is not helping when Martin is helping toss it on him as well. I'm glad they talked it out a little. Another great episode.

Heather MacKenzie

Ohhhh man, I am DO happy the boys finally communicated! And joked around with each other! The tension has been making me so nervous! I did get a serious kick out of Simon, though; his entrance and exit were far too funny. And Helen! Boy, have I missed Helen! I love her so much, and that comment about going back to watching from inside herself is just too good, I can't.

TJ Hoffer

That is such a great idea!!!!! It’s got my vote. 👍

Gilligan Mungus

when I imagined the Vast's domain, I didn't even get anywhere close to it. and that's why I love this universe so much! when Helen is in support of something it's probably not smart to go through with it, is it?

ledgem

Perfect timing for "I Think Spirals Should Vote" to get their shout-out.

TalesHunter

This was another brilliant episode, absolutely loved it, the statement was as terrifying as always but the interaction between everyone was hilarious and very much needed in the case of Jon and Martin. Thoroughly enjoyed this and bonus points for use of the word 'murdery'!

MuddyHippy

JUST yesterday I had the realization that simon was still alive and DESPERATELY wanted to see him again! Thank u jonny I am living my best life

Camryn Rennie

Hm. This may be the first time TMA has disappointed me; I DESPERATELY want Simon to die 😂 (This is mostly a joke. The Vast is my biggest fear and F*ck Simon Fairchild is my motto, but I don’t think Jonny could legit disappoint me at this stage.)

Rowan MacBean

What’s that up in the sky? It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s SIMON FAIRCHILD!

Brian Taulbee

ooooh happy birthday to me, there is Simon AND Helen AND communication!!!!

Mab

Ngl, I'm glad he didn't make Simon go pffft. He is ever so charming. I love Helen just admitting to watching all their exploits with a figurative bowl of popcorn.

Tahir Raines

The first part of this was such an intensely relatable fear. That looking sensation of some impending disaster that you're trying to escape. Very 'the awesome power of nature is terrifying.' And the second gave me my anti-capitalist agenda. Very nicely done.

Terri

My babies are talking! MY BABIES ARE TALKING! *Cries tears of relief*

Amélia Brouillard

I love Helen so much and Simon is just 10/10 bastard

Emma.he.they

Wow. I was waiting for the Vast. Did not disappoint. Amazing script, acting and sounds. I was another expecting the Hunt from the ep title. But also still intrigued as to how the entities are overlapping in this series. There felt like Spiral, Buried and Fleshy elements within the overall Vast domain. Loved it.

Carolyn Thraves

thank you rusty quill for my ounce of serotonin today!!

james evelyn

Can we get Helen "From Inside the Spiral" Reports as tiny bits during the breaks? I need more of her and what she is doing during the apocalypse

Hayley Phoenix

Helennnnn <3 (also I am deeply afraid for what is to come)

Megan S.

The image of simon just zipping around so fast that when he lands its with a crash that hard is kinda funny to me, just vast grandpa breaking the sound barrier as he flys around his domain

charlie nichs

WAHEY!!! Karim's performance was so good! love the airy flightiness! Wonderful! Love our hashtag goals murder grandpa! Good for him! And as pointed out yessss the sound design in this one was awesome! New bedtime story ep

sAZAndorable

Okay, Simon’s exist was the FUNNIEST thing I have heard in ages!! The sound design of the whoosh/diminishing voice “BYYEEeeeeeeeeeeee” is a work of genius

elizabeth p.

omg the sounds!! i love everything about this ep ;-;;;;; simon! helen!!! JON TALKING ABOUT HIS FEELINGS!!!!

Abi

SIMON LIVES! SIMON FUCKING LIVES!!!

Brian Taulbee

The Vast continues the trend of letting humans torment each other in a way I did NOT expect. Also thank you for the productive fight, and Helen, and Karim as Simon. My crops are watered, etc., etc.

Io

not the biggest thing to take from this episode (it’s all wonderful of course and the vast is one of my favorite entities statement-wise) but i do love evil funky vast grandpa

oliver

the soundscaping for this episode was incredible!!

ScarletWitch

The sound design and editing was incredible in this episode! And I loved getting to see how my favorite murder grandpa has been handling the apocalypse.

Rowan Grey

Sound editing was amazing, that byeeeeeeee ending was hilarious and just overall a fantastic episode. though now i am almost certain Jon& Martin are going to end up killing Helen at some point, assuming they find a way to stop the apocalypse. Because she definitely doesn't want the current "nightmare party" to ever stop. Ever

Moonwatcher13

THAT STATEMENT SLAPPED. BUT ALSO THE SOUND DESIGN THIS EP IS SO (CHEFS KISS) LIKE THE VAST AMBIENCE WITH THE WIND AND THE BOOMS BUT ALSO SIMON'S ENTRANCE AND EXIT IS ONE OF THE FUNNIEST THINGS IN THIS PODCAST TO DATE

Griffin Irradiatedsnakes

MY NON-EUCLIDEAN WIFE HAS RETURNED AT THE BEST POSSIBLE MOMENT

Darby Whipple

Holy wow, the sound editing this episode is so chef's kiss, top notch, amazing. I mean it always has been, but this episode in particular was so frightening and atmospheric, it gave me such goosebumps and such a vivid mental picture of everything happening, sooo good. Simon Fairchild being his usual dandy smarmy self, also great. Haha, I had such a feeling like Helen was gonna get blown up instead of Simon if she didn't quit nagging at Jon, but I love her popcorn audience take on the whole thing. And I love love loved Jon and Martin talking things out and Communicating! Such a good episode, one of my new favorites. And I do keep saying that for pretty much every new episode because this season is chock full of them. Thank you.

Zorya Dolgushkin

I. Can't. Even.

fatal_drum

„i won’t hesitate“ oh no this is going to be bad

Soph

This is now my favorite episode of the show. The SOUND DESIGN like wow, gave it the perfect atmosphere (haha)

bonecrusher

Jon and Martin lightheartedly joking around with each other at the end was so good and we got to see Simon make the best entrance of all time AND Helen made an appearance as the world's worst life coach just OH. So good. I've had such a hard week and this episode made it a little better

Maddie

“BYEEEEEE!” I had to pause the episode I was laughing so hard

GriffinsTreehouse

I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START WITH THIS, TMA TEAM. FIRST OF ALL THANK YOU. SECOND OF ALL IT IS THE FUNNIEST THING IN THE WORLD THAT THE VAST IS THE 'BREATHER' EPISODE SO THANK YOU FOR THAT AS WELL. THIRDLY I LOVE SIMON'S "BYE-EEEE" SO MUCH WHAT EXCELLENT SOUND EDITING. FOURTHLY the vast scares me the least out of all the entities so finally i get to just chill... oh to be an ant unable to comprehend the many parts of a human being so many times larger than you are. FIFTHLY THE JOHNMARTIN WAS CUTE AND AFTER THE LAST FEW WEEKS I'M SO RELIEVED JOHN IS TALKING ABOUT HIS FEELINGS. perhaps even in the apocalypse we can learn to communicate better with our loved ones.

Sam Miller

Been waiting for a vast episode!! Amazing job as always !!

Elias Douchard

a literal breath of fresh air of a vast episode... jonny i see what you did there and i love it

Ronan Rogers

Well worth the wait, very good episode all around! Funny, one of the more hopeful ones too.

LainyJP

Excellent as always!

Lurkin

This episode was such a good one! I was so worried for the argument warning, but in the end it was a good argument that needed to happen because THEY NEED TO COMMUNICATE. This was a delightful journey through the Vast.

sasmus

Ahhhhhhh this one went right to my childhood nightmares of Too Big Distances and Too Small Things. Well done. Also HI SIMON!!!!! BYE SIMON! loved it!

HoloXam

Yes, the Vast! Fantastic episode as always!

luvkirby4ever

i think he said "BYE--EEEEE!"

Jams Lastname

Oh this one was a delight!

Meg Taylor

I felt Martin glaring at me across the universes, because; yes, I absolutely did want Simon to live because he's charming and funny. Really hope he shows up again this season!

Jacob Alexander

Also thank you, Jonny and Alex, for letting us have a bit of a breather this week. Lol, hearing people get incorporated into a monster made up of people is a relief. I love this podcast.

Gilligan Mungus

Karim is the best as Simon. No lie, I love his work in anything he does but that guest voice casting has been nothing short of sublime. 💜💜💜

Gilligan Mungus

did...did i hear simon fairchild say "wee!" while he zipped off??

Bergs

Awesome as ever

Disaster

This was FANTASTIC

Rene Hardigree

Storms/storm sounds might be a good content warning as well thanks!

Melody A Landrum

ya'll just made the title sound like it'd be The Hunt episode on purpose huh

ieatahottchip

An homage to "In the Hills, the Cities"! Holy shit!!!

Brian Taulbee

ITS SKY GRANDPA TIME ALSO H E L E N

cecilfae

FINALLY! THE VAST!!!
