MAG 178 - The Processing Line

Comments

this is such a vegan podcast XD

Rurrie

John wouldn't have forgiven Daisy, yet he went into the buried to save her. I don't buy it.

Diane Shleibak

I am! And I agree with you fully!

Sinclair Cross

Good call! Are you a fan of the Big Finish Doctor Who audio episodes? They are fantastic!

Danner Coolsteel

I wonder if this is Tom Haan's domain, or if he's still around. I was always curious about him.

Robbie Lyons

Strangely enough, the processing itself also eerily reminds me of the Cybermen in Doctor Who when all of the people are being mind controlled and willingly walking into this processing plant that transforms them into Cybermen by taking their brains out of their skulls. Not sure why, but it was my first thought going through this episode

Sinclair Cross

Those speeches from Basira and Jon, some of the best this season and definitely current events appropriate. Loved.

Rebecca Dupont

I've finally caught up and I have to say, the ride has been beyond my wildest expectations. The slaughterhouse statement was just brutal in its clarity of The Flesh (oof!). The dialog between the Archivist and Basira was heartbreaking but what sent shudders through my soul? (Basira) I thought we were good (Archivist) I know how that feels Whaaaaaatttt????

marie CD

That sound effect to Tyler's neck right at the end gave me chills! And then Jon saying, "Useless" in a deeper and growling voice...love that. I am excited (nervous?) for the next episode! 😅

Sinclair Cross

So thankful I had already finished eating when I listened to the episode. Less thankful that my usual listening buddy was asleep.

HailtotheQueenJ

The Archivist's last line and Basira's realization that she's going to have to kill Daisy were sobering. My heart hurts for both of them and it hurts more for Martin because at this point, we all know what's going to hurt the Archivist the most.

Heather MacKenzie

"No one gets what they deserve, not in this place, they just get what ever hurts them the most , even me." Took me the fuck out because I'm very sure it means bad things are going to happen to Martin and I can't. I. Am. Not. Okay.

That Podcast Queer

so im just going to go ahead and assume that daisy... isnt going to be okay? its fine im fine everything is going to be fine

Paola Ivanna

Wow, Jonny, thanks for reinforcing my hatred for the meat industry once again. And I like that Basira is confronting, in a way, everything she did, both before and after she was sectioned.

TJ Hoffer

I always unfortunately seem to be making food when I listen to the flesh episodes. Such high quality horror, and the discussion at the end was needed. Hmm I am in constant fear of the end of the show, but very excited to see how it progresses

Catherine Hills

that was some meaty dialogue! (i say this but internally d r e a d)

Julova

Hm! I'm in pain! Ouch!

james evelyn

I'm struck by how immensely sad this episode is. And I feel like a lot of what is being said is foreshadowing the Elias confrontation.

LainyJP

I really feel like the quality of TMA has improved even more with S5 Act 2, didn't think that was possible... A really good episode sound and content wise

Vex Darcera

Daisy noooo

Marianne weber

That club is just what the tma fandom is.

A very wealthy divorce attorney

devalued human life, now with EXTRA devaluation!

David Litvak

THAT STATEMENT... CAPITALISM? CAPITALISM! VERY CAPITALISM!! I love the moment of drawing his own cuts of meat, and of being ultimately deemed useless (like a form of twisted, helplessly unwilling rebellion against the system).. GAAUGHHH!!!!! also MARTIN. IS PWECIOUS. AGH.

Alex

youve got devaluation of human life on there twice

corvidae

Didnt expect to get emotional for Jon's fear at this stage but here we are.

Sadie Moon

mmmmm . m e a t .

corvidae

Re Jonny getting the slaughterhouse vibe, I don’t want to think about the research he did to get the tone and details right. Also I want to say I’m sorry you had that experience but I don’t want that to come across wrong. I’m gratefully ignorant when it comes to slaughterhouse realities and I also don’t know if your experience was traumatic for you. Basically what I’m trying to say is I hope you’re okay. 💜

Gilligan Mungus

Oh man. First I’m never ever ever eating beef or pork again. I mean I rarely have since Killing Floor but oof. Also Martin’s in danger. Oh man is he in danger. Also also methinks Daisy is done for next episode or so and it’s going to hurt so much. We all know how good Fay and Frank are as voice actors. Double oof.

Gilligan Mungus

Wow! What a powerful and well done episode. I think this was my favorite Flesh statement ever. Extremely well done. Also when Jon's voice changed in that one bit I nearly jumped out of my skin bc I wasn't expecting it. And the post statement bit was so powerful. Amazing voice acting and writing.

ThirdFromTheLeft

who wants to join me in the stupidly holding out hope for a character we are literally told is doomed club

ttroutlaw

YEAH that line literally made me say "ruh roh" out loud

martin kachow blackwood

OH, AND the statement was awesome as well. i have been loving the way the apocalypse has revealed that a common hook of the flesh (or, a flesh hook, if you will. lmfao) is that whole "Being Less For The Purpose Of Being Useful" thing. that was a really interesting way to give the entity its depth. it's shown me that i’m... pretty marked by it myself!

martin kachow blackwood

That statement! Gosh I've had some slight involvement with intensive farming and slaughterhouses and this really captured the vibe... The tilted floor detail really got to me. And the callback to Jon's hunt scar is so poignant, that scene where he begs for his life was very memorable.

Lurkin

oh my GOD, what an episode. it felt like such a cathartic release to hear jon acknowledge in his way that what happened to him in the forest was deeply traumatic jon’s coexisting acknowledgement of daisy’s struggle and appropriate inability to forgive her makes their relationship so much more complex and powerful. he literally tore that rib right out and buried himself alive for her, and yet, his sacrifices for her were NOT forgiveness. he knew that forgiving her wouldn’t be doing right by himself or others. that’s some true eldritch solidarity, and it really fleshes out the loyalty he’s shown to others who have hurt him. ...ha. 'fleshes.' martin: Press X To “(Sympathetically) Oh, Jon”

martin kachow blackwood

well now im sad :( i mean i kind of expected it but i still had some hope that daisy could be saved. well thats what we got fanfiction for ig

Citruslusche

this was viscerally upsetting in the BEST way. really deeply enjoying the season.

bramblepaws

Good lord thats fucked. Amazing. Terrifying. Jesus. Poor Jonathan Sims. Poor all of you

Moonwatcher13

"They just get whatever hurts them the most. Even me." What does it meeaaannnnn?! Oh god, I can't see this ending well. Awesome episode as always!

Owleics

This was SO GOOD! YES! FINALLY! I never stopped loving Basira a lot but DAMN this episode really validated those feelings, and also expanded them a lot. Wah! And that performance from Frank!!

sAZAndorable

I always love episodes with The Flesh. They very much unsettle me. Also pleased with Basira admitting she knows her thinking was wrong in excusing what Daisy did. I keep thinking about Jon saying "even me" at the end though.

Killian

This was extremely good and also an absolute gut punch.

Aberdonia

With every episode that goes by without featuring Daisy I grow increasingly impatient and terrified. It's an interesting mix.

Victoria Lapteva

that was literally amazing I am unbelievably sad now thank you

DJDembo13

DAISY HAS TO WHAT

The Leo!

Great ep! Could maybe use a content warning for bureaucratic/organized mass murder (I'm not sure exactly how to phrase it, which might be why the warning isn't there...kind of a difficult concept to pin down). That particular form of violence has its own historical baggage and can be a very specific trigger for some people.

Tess

Oh, excellent. Excellent, excellent. Thank you! A way to think about the processing line I hadn't imagined! Can't wait to hear what happens next.

Sav B

God. That was really something (quite excellent). Loved it

Alienea

That was BRILLIANT

GriffinsTreehouse

I think I can speak for everyone when I say, ohhhh boy...

jcssc

Oh, my biggest fear... hello there

Harley_treefrog

*me vibing to the sound design on this ep* i love this song

Ren MacKinnon

Can't wait til work is done so I can listen! ❤️
