Fond Farewells and Future Forecasts

ello all!

Happy Monday from everyone at Rusty Towers. Can you believe we’re already halfway through August? We hope you’re looking after yourselves.

We’re thrilled and delighted to announce that recording for the current Rusty Quill Gaming campaign has wrapped! That’s right: the final episode of Erasing the Line is set to release on 1st December 2021. This epic finale has been more than six years and over two hundred episodes in the making, and we can’t wait to spend the rest of the ride with you. We’ve got some great content in the works after this storyline concludes: stay tuned for a December holiday special, and don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for details about Rusty Quill’s next actual play RPG podcast with an even larger cast, currently in the works.

Speaking of new content… here’s your reminder that our first public season of Enthusigasm will be coming out next month! After the success of the pilot season (which will remain a patreon exclusive), Helen will be joined by RQ crew and friends to explore more of their favourite things, from the nerdy to the wholesome. We think you’ll find some episodes a feast for the ears, and others more a festival of chaos, but what are you hoping we’ll cover? Our Patreon-only Enthusigasm channel is still available in the official Discord server – let us know there!

Did you know that Rusty Quill Gaming and Giving 2021 is less than four months away? Would you like a sneak peek at some of the things you might see? Well, you’re in luck! Today we are overjoyed to share the names of a few extra special guests who will be joining some of this year’s segments. First up, please welcome back John Robertson (www.twitch.tv/robbotron), who you may recognize from his lively and clever Twitch show “The Dark Room.” Next, we welcome Brian Gray aka Urb (www.twitch.tv/urbanbohemian), who may be recognized by his relaxing and inclusive Twitch streams, or by his involvement in Rivals of Waterdeep, an actual play 5e podcast. This year’s charity event will be on the 4th and 5th December on our own Twitch channel, and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever!

Speaking of Twitch, RQ Streams is in for a compelling week. On Wednesday, Nico begins an epic quest to find the five Lords of Cinder in Dark Souls III; on Saturday, Mike is playing zen racing game, Absolute Drift; and on Sunday, Rhys makes their RQ Streams debut with a turn-based, post-apocalyptic road trip in Overland. Make sure to give them a warm RQ Streams welcome!

There's also the thing that with Magnus, Jonny and Alex got to dictate exactly how it ended. Pre-200, I was telling myself: well, whatever the ending turns out to be, it's the ending they envisioned, the story they wanted to tell. Whereas with actual play -- the dice might have other plans! There are ingredients which are outside of anyone's control, and GM and players are having to spin the story around those random elements on the fly, and they’ll make choices that may surprise each other, and maybe it'll end up including things that no-one envisioned. Which is what makes good improv so electric, but it’s also in some ways scarier!

Honestly I’m more worried about the end of RQG than I was for Magnus, because we knew Magnus would end in tragedy. We don’t know how RQG will end!!!

Achilles

Don't mind me. Just crying my eyes out at 7am because RQG is officially finished.

Marie

Congratulations to Alex and the players on wrapping RQG! I don't want to see it go, but that's a hell of an achievement and I hope they feel very proud (and that the ending was satisfying for them all).

So *that's* what Ben's tweet was about. I never wanted it to end but I guess everything does eventually. Excited to find out about a new one though.

Soox
