Network and nostalgia
Added 2021-08-30 15:01:03 +0000 UTCHello folks!
Today we’re wishing you the best here from Rusty Towers and celebrating some exciting news for Rusty Quill. In case you missed the announcement this morning, we’re thrilled to share again that the RQ Network is welcoming five incredible new shows into the fold: We’re Alive, I Am In Eskew, The Silt Verses, The Milkman of St. Gaffs, and The Town Whispers. For more details about these shows, visit the Rusty Quill website. You can also stop by the #rq-network-discussion channel on our official Discord server and type !list for a directory of information about our shows. If you’re a fan of the strange and the unusual, you’ll definitely want to check these great podcasts out.
You might see some familiar faces (or hear some familiar voices) if you’re planning on attending the Audio Drama Day at the London Podcast Festival on 5th September. The Battlebridge Room will be hosting a series of free panels with loads of incredible guests from the audio storytelling sphere. At 10am, Alexander J. Newall will be a part of the panel “Where Improv Meets Actual Play”; at 2pm, Jonathan Sims will join Jon Ware & Muna Hussen of Silt Verses and I Am In Eskew plus other guests for the panel “Making Audio Horror”; and at 6pm, Helen Gould will be part of the panel “Telling Your Story,” which explores stories made by, for, and about people from marginalised communities. Rusty Quill will also have a table set up selling merchandise that day, so be sure to stop by and say hello! You can find more information about the panels and the other speakers that will be a part of them HERE.
This newsletter has already been pretty full of Big News, but we wanted to talk about our in-house productions as well. After last week’s stressful, maths-filled episode, the fight continues in Rusty Quill Gaming on Tuesday – what else will Alex throw at our heroic party? Then on Thursday in Stellar Firma, our mini-anthology series continues with David’s Place. Over on the Magnus feed, this week we have something rather special: a brand-new in-universe statement, written by Imogen Harris, directed by Hannah Preisinger and performed by Sue Sims as Gertrude Robinson. The statement was inspired by the prompt ‘A Hole in the Ground’ written by one of you, our Patrons, a few weeks ago. Next week, we’ll have another new statement: I won’t tell you any more information, other than it will feature a particularly infamous book collector… Please note, these statements are not canon.
Finally, it’s the start of a quiet month over on RQ Streams. Mike and Nico will both be taking some well-earned rest and relaxation time in September, so there will be a few less streams than usual (but just as much fun). Stay up-to-date with what’s going on by looking at the schedule in the newsletter, by following us on Twitter and Facebook, or by checking out the stream schedule on Twitch. This week, instead of his usual Wednesday slot, Nico will instead be covering for Mike on the Saturday Session and starting the hype about Rusty Quill Gaming & Giving 2021. Last year, Mike and Anil reacted to a series of curated clips from past years’ Rusty Quill Gaming and Giving. This week, join Nico on Saturday as we multiply the absurdity with Nico Reacts to Mike Reacts to RQGG Clips. It’s going to be a heckin’ good (and heckin’ chaotic) time, and we can’t wait to see you there!
And here is this week’s schedule:
Tue 31st August
RQG 208 – Threshold (Patreon) (4pm BST)
Wed 1st September
MAG – A Hole in the Ground (Patreon) (4pm BST)
RQG 208 – Threshold (Public) (4pm BST)

2021-09-05 22:18:45 +0000 UTCPlease excuse my confusion: are these new episodes of Eskew, which seemed to have reached a natural conclusion, remastered episodes, or is it a new outlet for the original series (which, for anyone who hasn't heard it, is exceptional)? Thank you and congratulations!

2021-08-31 11:00:02 +0000 UTCAny chance the London Podcast Festival panels might be recorded/streamed? I think some of them have been in the past.

2021-08-31 00:53:48 +0000 UTCI've barely recovered from last week's RQG episode. I don't know how you expect me to cope with another.

2021-08-31 00:53:31 +0000 UTC"Eskew" and "Silt" are so so good, what an addition. Makes me excited to check out the others if that's the caliber we're looking at!
