Hey Patrons, just a quick note to say that after feedback from a few fans who have reached out to us, we have decided to allow extra time for Discord users to save conversations. The Discord server will continue to be accessible over the weekend in a read-only format until it is archived at 9am BST, Monday 20th September.

As someone for whom the discord was a big part of why I am a patron, I'd also like to see what plans you have to compensate for it, be it new rewards via patreon or a lowering of the costs of each tier

I know that Rusty Quill has always made inclusivity and equality a main priority of there's, because as Alex once mentioned, human decency should never be sought out as some attainable goal but instead it should be seen as the basic principle and something people should practice regularly without expecting rewards or praise. I'm very grateful to know you all are working to rectify the situation and that RQ remains focused on transparency. I have no doubt that these mistakes were made with no malicious intent to them and it's as you said, everyone at the company is human and this is a learning curve that takes time to understand fully, but I can see you are definitely on the right track and I'm happy to hear Helen and Anil are heading that department; they are both incredible people with a vast knowledge and heart for helping others. I wish everyone at Rusty Towers the best and I'm sending love and support to both the company and all the ex-mods. Thank you for the update.

I’ve already given my well-wishes on Twitter but I also wanted to say that I really appreciate what your new network stands for and the changes it will hopefully bring to the creative industry in coming years. I can only imagine that networking with so many third parties makes transparency increasingly difficult, for legal reasons, but I really admire the effort that was put into this collection of statements. I can see that efforts were made to put things in layman’s terms. Things have obviously gone a bit sideways and I do hope that there are still plans to compensate the former mods if possible but I have faith that positive change is on the horizon, especially with Helen and Anil on the case. I still believe in what this company stands for, beyond my fan loyalty to your content. Take care, all. xx

Thank you for the transparency. Looks like it was faults are both ends. Lets hope things get better going forward.

I do appreciate the update, and I do think my last post may have been overly angry. And - I do believe that there are many people at RQ who want to do better and truly care about everything in this newsletter. I'm also glad that RQ seems to have figured out that people appreciate updates, even if that update isn't substantial. That said - I am still very angry on behalf of the mods.

I appreciate how empathetic and transparent this is, well above and beyond what a creator owes fans. Official discords of large fandoms are universally nightmarish to manage and I think many of us absolutely understand its removal. Many of us would also know how resource-heavy transcription is, and how long contract negotiation takes, and I certainly appreciated your updates over 2020 and 2021. Cheers for all the effort you put in to these statements and everything else, it is heartening to see such a genuine response that does not shy from accountability xx
