Anticipating October

Hi folks,

Here in the UK, the season is beginning to change – the leaves are turning red, there’s a chill in the air and the phrase “pumpkin spice” has started to appear in cafés across the country. Spooky season is nearly upon us! As October begins, we have a month of seasonal specials for you to enjoy. After next week’s episode, Rusty Quill Gaming will go on a short mid-season break ahead of the final, climactic episodes. In its place, starting on 12th October, we’ll be sharing three Hallowe’en themed specials for you to enjoy – we’ll announce more details in the coming weeks!

Over on The Magnus Archives feed, next week will debut the first of five winning Rusty Fears 5 entries. As always, the talent of our fans is astounding, and the standard of the stories sent to us was incredibly high. It took our panel of judges hours of deliberation and a lot of cups of tea to narrow down the final five winning pieces. We know you’ll enjoy these new horror short stories as much as we have, and we can’t wait to start announcing the winning authors and who is reading their stories each week! After the fifth and final Rusty Fears entry on 4th November, we will be closing The Magnus Archives feed for a time. We hope you've enjoyed our post-Magnus content as much as we've enjoyed making it - and keep an Eye out for more horrifying content in the future.

We were absolutely delighted yesterday to receive Best Audio at the British Fantasy Awards for The Magnus Archives. A huge congratulations are in order for talented writer, Jonathan Sims, and to the cast and crew who worked so hard to create the show to such a high calibre. We’re so proud of what they achieved and are so pleased to see that recognised by the British Fantasy Awards. We were up against tough competition in the Best Audio category, including our very own Stellar Firma.

Meanwhile, looking at this week, on Tuesday in RQG the party become better acquainted with a new friend and start to prepare for the end of their journey. On Wednesday, we’ll be sharing the final part of Camp Flying Moose, where a cabin is broken into and an allergy is investigated to escape a macramé class.

Finally, we recently committed to providing weekly updates about progress being made with creating accessible transcripts for both our backlog of episodes and for all future content produced by Rusty Quill. Thank you for your patience as we work on completing this. The following update is publicly available on our website

Update 27/09/2021:

Work on the specific transcription of Rusty Quill Gaming has proved more complex than accounted for in earlier estimates we received and we have committed extra funds and resources to the transcription of this particular podcast.

We are pleased to say that that this week we have received completed transcripts back for all newly completed episodes of the new Enthusigasm. These are now being checked internally ahead of the launch of the show.

We have also this past fortnight streamlined a process of sharing newly completed episodes with a transcription company using FTP servers for the efficient and secure sharing of large files.
