RQG 212 - Final Rest

Comments

Ive finally caught up 100% and now i have to wait for 1 episode per week and I know it will bring me great pain

sandra

Also how would it have changed if Grizzop hadn't shot at every Hades person that showed at the factory in Damascus? Like, how much information could they have gotten if they had just talked to that dude?

Soox

Same! Of all the moments I don't know why this one got to me. Hugs all around if people want them.

Ahgbri Kanatist

It certainly is! Partial transcript is now attached.

Also been having my own re-listens, and though it probably isn’t relevant, I often think about the vial that Hamid found in Kew Gardens, the maybe mind controlled lads and blokes, and if it would have changed anything if Grizzop had given clearer instructions of who the Hephaestus people could share the information with.

+1 to all the comments above. “Hiding in apocalypses” I see I see I see 🐊

It's been interesting starting a proper relisten all the way back from the start this past week - lots of resonance in today's episode having just listened to ep11 a few days ago! Hobbits and rings indeed. I have a sneaking suspicion that there's a socioeconomic throughline here that I haven't fully put together yet, and it's an interesting focal point to sink some 'oh gosh, this really is ending in 6 or so more episodes, isn't it' anticipatory energy. For example - I'd forgotten just how strongly Guy/Augusta had been evoking Ned Ludd in the attack on the Simulacrum back then (and gosh, that was violence against a newborn AI's embodiment, wasn't it - will the current networked intelligence view the party's quest as any less of an intended violent dismemberment?). The Simulacrum was intended as a kind of slave or indentured servant whose body and descendants would be the property of whoever won the auction (itself a very uncomfortable resonance with the plight of the kobolds, and the Meritocrats before them) and was murdered to attempt preventing that tectonic tech genie from escaping the metaphorical bottle. The Simulacrum's body parts went into the sewers, as did (all too likely) improperly disposed biological samples from the Kew Gardens incident, and the combination appears to have gone spiritually viral. So many different takes on a networked world since then - Mr Ceiling's distributed brain borb intertubes running the world's banks and then some (internet/UDAD Acheron callback), Shoin's global mechanical kraken disruption system (transhumanism/Pacific Rim), the corrupted Garden of Yerlik erasing the line between the dead and the resurrected and the not dead yet's...gosh, I can't wait to hear how it all ties together. It's probably at least half Lord Byron's fault, I expect.

Thank you for this gift of an episode. I'm sure I'll return to it for comfort after the finale absolutely wrecks me. I am impressed as heck at how well all of this is coming together - the high, high stakes feel earned, and balanced by the very personal stakes the players are evoking of writing letters, making toasts, taking literal and emotional risks to be there for each other whatever it takes.

JJ Hunter

Golly, this was an absolutely lovely episode. I’m nervous about what is coming, but this one is a shining ray of comfort.

Kristin Urbanski

Oh no, the feelings

Rogue Vigilante

Absolutely loved this episode ❤️

HoloXam

Oh god we're really getting near the end now aren't we... 🥲

Freya

Everyone's mushy about the heroes feast and yEs but also I'M SORRY..... EINSTEEEIIIIINNNNN!?!?!??!?!?!?

Alex

This was such an unexpectedly joyous episode! I loved the hero's feast and the toasts and conversations made me tear up for real. Also very excited now that we have some more details about what the final battle might be like! I've been hoping that [redacted] might make an appearance in the end game so I was super excited when Babbage mentioned the danger about the airspace 👀

TheCyanStar

OH MY HEART. Thank you for this one! What a delight.

Katy DeCoste

I was not expecting to burst into tears at Wilde's toasts. Going to blame it on sleep deprivation.

Bonnie Calderwood Aspinwall

I love this episode so much! My tears of joy over the heroes feast scene quickly became tears of sadness when I realised just how much I'm gonna miss these characters 😭 I am so excited for the final fights and to see 6 years worth of story telling finally pay off!! Thank you to the awesome sound designer(s?) behind this episode, it was amazing as ever and the extra touches of the birthday song during that scene really made it!!

Owleics

Is it possible to once again have a partial transcript for the distorted parts? I can't process the sound without one sadly.

Zwaluw

This is such a heartwarming episode I am simultaneously relieved and very afraid of what’s to come hehe

rowanoak

Okay this was completely unexpectedly ADORABLE, with a lot of exciting or scream-worthy developments but... just an extremely enjoyable and adorable episode, pretty sure it's going up into my top 10 fave episodes. Incredible. I love Jeff so much??? I got so emotional over the gift??? and SUPER stoked for what's coming up oh dear

sAZAndorable

also love that zolf's secondary mission in this campaign is to convert everyone, alive or undead, into fans of our lord and saviour harrison cambell

moth
