Yea and my hc is that gertrude really did do it all for her cat, too. Love the cat support on this

Rad Lad Robin

"I want my cat back." #relatable!!

ledgem

I think it's more just saying that... there's not always rational reasons why people dislike others. Melanie and Jon didn't get along from the very first time they met, and while Melanie's gone through stages of being actively hostile to him and trying to reach out again, they're never going to get along because, as Georgie says, they're just too similar. So her standing dislike of him is compounded by her other grievances (he may have removed the bullet, but she didn't ask him to and it compounded the trauma of that situation, but she did still thank him in 131, and they actually had a pretty in-depth conversation about it) to a point where they probably won't ever be able to resolve their conflicts and get along, even if they can work towards the same ends/with the same people. Which isn't to say that you can't find her irritating! Same thing, some people/characters just rub you the wrong way. I definitely have that feeling about other characters. Just to note my reading on the character and why she feels that way!

I’ve been binging RQG, and can’t get over the impression that Sasha Rackett settled down with an adorable girlfriend who meets her parkoursexual standards.

Issendai

I feel the same. I struggle to engage/like Melanie. To me, she comes across as self-centred. She blames Jon for everything, never taking responsibility for her own actions. But that's just my opinion.

Aston Bentley

I'm amazed that they have managed to put a sweet, love story in the middle of this horror podcast. I loved the intense scenes between Martin and John. I don't get why Melanie hates John though. Not his fault, and John did take out a phantom bullet from her leg. Did Melanie even thank him for that? I can't remember. No offense to the actor who plays her wonderfully, but Melanie the character is really irritating. Altogether, a nice episode that does a good job of setting up the ending!

Kara Moskowitz

Even Martin can have a limit on his politeness and today, we found it. I don't think I'm prepared yet for what's about to come.

Heather MacKenzie

Oh boy I am not ready for the pain

That Podcast Queer

Jonny literally just calling out everyone's wild plans for the possible endings of TMA. Just reminding us that the best case ending is still absolutely depressing.

NoMercyPercy

still giving myself false hope that everything will be fine even after this ep. here's to the end!

james

My personal bet is that Jon gets memory loss at the end and listens through all the recordings. Cause I think it is implied that the tapes are a Jon thing rather than an archivist or Eye thing in general.

Anna S

If there's one thing we know about promises like that, it's that they portend nothing but pain... T_T

Simplicity Fairbolt

Aside from, you know, the heart-tugging feels of the heavy JonMartin conversation and the copious amounts of amusement on the second listen to Arun's suspicion-- a song has come to my mind. Sung to the tune of "Living In Sin" by Thomas Benjamin Wild, Esq.: "Mystery tin! Mystery tin! Open it up and see what it's got in!"

Simplicity Fairbolt

things sure are happening. im fine everything is fine.

Paola Ivanna

god the moment jon started talking about what might happen to him I started crying I dont think Im going to survive the ending

Weenie hut jr

I love that we're getting more Melanie and Georgie, and especially getting more insight into Georgie -- just love the line "I want my cat back."

Rosemary Queue

Jon and Martin may hate these heavy conversations, but I love hearing them even if they do somehow increase my already high level of dread.

Kate Sparrow

Calling it now: finale is all the powers banished for good, EXCEPT that the Admiral is now a giant, unkillable hunting beast very happily roaming across Britain. Sure, he eats people, but not THAT many, so it's considered a win by everyone except Georgie.

Kate Sparrow

Probably an archivists domain at least

Ben Pike

Things are moving faster. Aside from preparing for the pain to come, it was so weird hearing Marguerite not be her usual upbeat self. Also I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS LISTENING THROUGH THE THE RECORDERS. Ahem. Sorry. Lost it for a second there.

Gilligan Mungus

Georgie has the most relatable motive in the show tbh

Laura Bailey

This episode gives me hope that at the end of it all, the Admiral will get a happily ever after (even if it’s as a giant eldritch tunnel denizen).

Ivy

Here's hoping that Martin didn't get peaches in his mystery tin

god i love meliane

Emma.he.they

This episode was fantastic and boy am I scared for the ending and tears I know I’m gonna shed. Loved Martin and Jon’s interaction as usual, and it was really nice to get a one on one between Melanie and Georgie

Brianne Boyd

So I'm guessing the fearscape Ms. Unnamed was in was the archivists domain?

BuriedInTheArchives

Ahh I'm loving all these different interactions, such a good episode!! Dreading the end as much as I'm anticipating it but also loved Jon and Martin's banter as usual. And I enjoyed that new creepy info about the fact that Jon sleeps with his eyes open. This is also like the first time hearing Georgie and Melanie having a private one on one conversation and I loved it! They have such a good dynamic, same as Jon and Martin- chipper but sharp paired with sarcastic yet soft.

Zorya Dolgushkin

Im honestly at this point curious as to how an ending is going to play out? Because jmart have made it clear they think killing the fears entirely is the goal. And we still dont know what the tapes come from but it can be assumed to be related to at least one of them? So that means it ends and we dont get to hear what happens after? No random tape recorder summoning, no fear to be harvested. IF any of the characters get a "happy" ending its going to be implied/off-screen? The anticipation at this point is killing me, i really cant wait to hear how its all going to play out.

Owleics

AMAZING episode! Wow I loved that so much. Jon and Martin's conversation about what to do and what comes after was heartbreakingly well done. And Martin's interactions with Arun were also really good. And Melanie and Georgie's whole dynamic and the way they play off and balance against each other was perfect and ahh!!! Also that unnamed woman sure was interesting....

ThirdFromTheLeft

Definitely the best ending line of an episode in awhile

Maddie

god i love this podcast so damn much

sasha haxell

[SWEAR] yes. This was SUCH a good characters episode. Georgie and Melanie's exchange was fantastic, so needed, so human, so real, gave them both so much additional depth. Heartbroken about Melanie's tirade because I've always loved her dynamic with Jon, and at the same time so happy about it, it's such a good character moment. Also, Marguerite's work was amazing, I did NOT recognise her at all and that character is fascinating.

sAZAndorable

Arun keeps cracking me up.

Meredith

Cannot deal with how well-written this show is. Blows me away each episode... I don't know about you but I listen to an episode, then I stare at the ceiling for an hour, then I go in for a relisten.

Lurkin

“I want my cat back” BEST RESPONSE EVER! Honestly though, I expect them to Georgie and Melanie to get back and Anil will have tried to crucify Martin as a non-believer 😂

Sophia Smithers

In the end, the whole show is really about The Admiral

Jack Bird

The anticipation is mounting, hard conversations being had, and just enough hope to have it hurt when it's dashed away..... Favorite line is definitely "I want my cat back"

LainyJP

also i love that at the end of the world we have four characters left and they're all queer. god fucking bless this podcast

gojo fujoshi

Hahahaha. Haha. This is going to hurt so much in the end, isn't it

John “heavy stuff”. Martin “I miss small talk”. Making each promises, oh dear, oh dear 🥺

twigletsaregreattoeat

There’s something building... very nervous, but excited! Thanks for a great episode, RQ!

Eli Labat-Angstadt

This has such strong calm-before-the-endgame vibes and I am legit terrified! Brilliant work as always everyone. 'I want my cat back' is a deeply relatable reason to risk everything!

MuddyHippy

I'm afraid 😀

Echo

Very grateful for the transcript along with the episode! Being able to read prior to listening is so helpful to me - and easier to do during work day :)

K. C. Millheiser

Another great episode. But, God this ending is going to hurt.
