Hi folks,

Happy Monday from us at Rusty Towers! Hope this week finds everyone keeping well and safe. We’re doing our best to keep warm as wintry winds whirl their way around, working on what wonders we can bring you in the coming weeks.

Quick reminder that our horror short story writing competition, Rusty Fears 4, is in full swing! Check out full details and themes over on our website, and you have until Sunday 28th February to get your submission into our judging panel.

Also, a quick heads up that, on Saturday 27th February, we will once again be taking part in GameBlast, a charity streaming project to raise money for Special Effect to supply custom equipment to physically disabled gamers. Stay tuned for more info next week!

And talking of charity streams, today marks the release of RQGG20 on our YouTube channel, for a convenient way to catch up on all the convivial chaos that seems to be the hallmark of the RQ Crew getting together! Check out the playlist HERE as we add 24 hours of chat and games to it on a rolling basis over the course of today!

As I mentioned last week, recording has started on Inexplicables. This is a Patreon-exclusive, six part audio drama which will be available to all Patrons at the Citizen tier and above, with episodes releasing weekly. Set in fictional Gravesby, in the north of England, this dark comedy series explores what happens when the death of a community support benefactor leads to rising tensions in a town where some of the folks are decidedly supernatural. A town where feuds and fantasy are very much interlinked.

On the production side, the series is written by Tom Critch and Alexander J Newall, directed by Maddy Searle (Stellar Firma, The Prickwillow Papers), produced by Hannah Preisinger (Rusty Quill Gaming), with Helen Gould overseeing things as Lead Script Editor.

As for who you’ll be hearing, we’ve assembled an excellent roster of voice talent, including some well-established voices, some familiar names and some wonderful folks new to RQ productions! We’ll be announcing names publicly next week, so please keep conversation about this to Patreon channels (inc those on the Discord server) for now.

In our main cast, I’m pleased to announce:

- Beth Eyre (she/her; Wooden Overcoats, Lucia Wright in TMA) and Harry Farmer (he/him; Middle Passage) as fractious sister & brother, Meredith & Harold Stonewell;
- Safiyya Ingar (they/she) as Shuhela;
- Ian Hayles (he/him; Trevor Herbert in TMA) as Frank;
- Fay Roberts (ze/they; Daisy in TMA) as Cressida;
- Karim Kronfli (he/him; A Scottish Podcast, Simon Fairchild in TMA) as John Belfrage;
- Mark Thompson (he/him) as Abraham Godbolt;
- Savy Des-Etages (she/her) as Lily Jones;
- Vera Chok (she/they) as Suzy Broadbent;
- Alexander Doddy (he/him; Starship Iris) as Mayor William Allen.

This is a seriously accomplished cast, with credits not only in podcast audio drama, but performances across stage, screen (TV & film), radio, audio book narration, comedy and video game voice acting. And they’ll be joined by a whole host of other special guests and RQ performers in cameo roles, so keep an ear out for them too!

Last week I also teased some upcoming merch artwork… and the reception was very cool to see. We’ve been working with noted designer Greer Stothers for a while now, to bring you this fantastic collection of high quality enamel pins, and I’m pleased to announce how you can get your hands on these.

As of this Friday, 19th February 2021, Greer will be opening pre-orders for these pins; all 15 designs will be available individually, and a special lithograph poster with the artwork is being prepared as well. This will be a time-limited offer, with pre-orders open for one month so that folks have reasonable time to decide on their order of choice. Stay tuned to our social media this week for details of the pre-order link and when it will be live.

And to whet your appetite a little further, here is the complete set of designs that will be committed to metal and enamel – a fitting tribute we feel as we approach the show’s conclusion…
