I love how it takes this long for Jon to realize the lighter is sus

Ari

YOU STILL HAVE AN HOUR AND A HALF TO TELL ME WHAT ELSE IS GOING TO HAPPEN, AND I AM SO EXCITED

Sinclair Cross

The last two words... perfect!

Carolyn Thraves

We always knew that lighter was gonna be something! Interesting that it was a anchor for the tapes.

Rebecca Dupont

ah so Jacob's statement (0.1) works as a warning to us as well

Carolina Martins

I love Annabelle so much

Alexandra DeCarlo

Ok, seriously. I'm sort of ok with the entities moving over here to lurk behind our threshold, it's not like they can make things much worse. But if the last episode ends up being a ritual that manifests them, I'll be pissed.

Eytan

The way I screeched 'THE LIGHTER!!!!' in this episode speaks to how masterfully this show has been written and put together. All the pieces coming together in a slowly dawning realisation is *chef's kiss* perfection.

Marie

The payoff of this show is incredible. All the way through. I can not wait to go back to the beginning for a full relisten when it ends. I mean apart from the obvious, even the lighter was significant I mean it’s insane 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Jess Nicolazzo

I guess we don't ignore the pit now?

Lillian Collea

I am honestly always impressed and awed by the connections and worldbuilding of this series.

Tahir Raines

Yes I think read that one too!! I'm like damn did you read the future or what!!

Zorya Dolgushkin

Oh god, you're so right!

Zorya Dolgushkin

jhshkflsh ahhh so good!!! I honestly have never been so happy to be so wrong because up until these last two episodes I for whatever reason really didn't think that the tapes had anything to do with the web. But it makes so much sense that they do and the pieces fitting together like this is so satisfying!! Annabelle's reveal was amazing and omgggg I'm on the edge of my seat and can't wait to see what happens next. Holy shit so many good one liners in this episode too, loving the humor as usual. Thank you!!

Zorya Dolgushkin

That was great. And, maybe Jon and Martin will save the world and both live!

Kara Moskowitz

Omg omg omg omg it's so good. Also I'm just very happy there will no longer be any spider soundscaping (hopefully)

NoMercyPercy

now THIS was some excellent horror. the dawning realization that the web reaching into another world was in fact the show itself gave me such a CHILL! and what a brilliant way to write the existence of the show into the story!!

ThirdFromTheLeft

I feel like we already know what Jon chose. Because we're listening to the tapes.

Jamie Hilts

i was thinking it's extremely likely she intentionally made it seem like she didn't want him to throw it in the pit, when throwing it in the pit might actually serve the Web's plan

jingqi

[softly] .... fuck...

ag

Spoiler Warning: They Web LIES!!! Destroy the archive, destroy Jonas, and the power does indeed flow into the nearest receptacle: but it sure as hell isn’t the tapes, it’s Jon! Also, who finds it interesting that Martin has just as easy a time manipulating the powers of the Web as he did the Lonely? Martin will save us all!

Michael Larsen

I AM SCREAMING! This freaking podcast is just so good!

Sofia Gustafsson

All those centuries of planning and decades of scheming and yet the Web didn't account for its deadliest foe – "What if I throw it into the pit"

Deneb

“[MUFFLED AGITATION] [MUFFLED ANXIETY]” Martin once again being relatable

Bruna G

First name in the Patreon list!! Thank you for this honor Alex - I feel like a VIP B)

Laurel Buchanan

When Annabel said explosion I said “fucking spider lighter” out loud. My co-worker was so confused, lol

Abigail

Liz M

aaaaa amazing episode!! I got so freaked out by the spiderfication sfx

Dagmar

VINDICATION

angel of dumpster fires

because it knew it was eventually going to happen anyway, regardless of what it did. if you can't prevent something, control it instead.

Idris

SO MUCH VINDICATION. Tying a tone of my theories together... I would like to add though, I had a bit of trouble understanding Annabelle in parts due to the pitch effects? I think it was just a but too deep that it made it hard to register. Love the ep tho!!!

Reid Sandlund

As a person with arachnophobia, this episode literally made my skin crawl. But, damn! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I KNEW that lighter was part of the Web!

Heather MacKenzie

So if the Web didn't want the apocalypse, why did they create the perfect Archivist to bring about the apocalypse? I don't think the Web wants anything but *every* world to have the Fears. Using one ruined world to spread to every OTHER world.

Arcturus

I finally get my shoutout!! My full name is a bit tricky to pronounce for non-Spanish speakers, sorry Alex hahaha

José Manuel Santiago Yepes

To the person who’s tumblr post I saw that predicted this literally word for word - ily and I hope you’re having a good day

Chekhov's lighter finally used!!! I keep saying this but every episode of season 5 is so amazing.

jelmarose

That was fun! Grateful for the transcript though, that distorted voice wasn't easy to parse.

GugTheGoose

Absolutely amazing, no words just intense love for this podcast aaAAA

Avanii
