Clips, quips and Inexplicable trips

Hi folks,

Happy Monday from all of us at Rusty Towers; hope you’re all keeping well. Things are busy around here as preparations for the finale of The Magnus Archives are in full swing, along with final recordings and post-production work on Inexplicables (but more on that below)!

March is also a busy month on the RQ Streams front with some special shows coming up, starting with this Saturday as Mike makes good on a promise during the GameBlast21 charity stream to provide some insider commentary on The Magnus Archives with a live listen-a-long afternoon of some choice episodes including Anglerfish (MAG001), We All Ignore the Pit (MAG097) and Sneak Preview (MAG104) featuring Tim Stoker’s own statement.

Plus, meeting another GameBlast stretch goal, tune in next week Wednesday for a live cookery lesson as Helen learns to make pasta for the first time, under the expert – and remote – tutelage of Nico! Expect a recipe for tasty camaraderie as we mix flour, egg and chaos for your viewing entertainment and education.

In other stream news, March also sees April making her solo debut on the channel with an art stream, as she shows you how she goes about a design in real time. And I shall be returning to take up the quizmaster’s chair once again, to see if Mike’s geography knowledge has improved any in the last year. And this time he has competition… as Helen and Nico step up to the contestants’ podiums as well!

On the community front, if you are a Patron of the Nobles tier, we are looking to resume the Discord Live program of events where you’ll get to interact with various members of the crew in a variety of ways. In the past we’ve done various AMAs and talks on a sporadic basis, but we’re trialling a new system that aims to put these on a more regular basis, with a view to events happening on a monthly basis.

We’re kicking this off this coming Thursday, 11th March, at 8 - 10pm GMT with an evening of Rusty Quill Gaming-themed Quiplash (a Jackbox party game) as Helen, Lydia and Bryn invite you to join them for jokes and japery! Details on how to participate in this will be sent to Nobles closer to the time.

Now, it has certainly been a long time in the coming, but at long last we are ready to lift the veil on the town of Gravesby and bring you Inexplicables! A couple of weeks ago we revealed the primary cast of this new, Patreon-exclusive show, which will be available to all Patrons at the Citizen-tier and above.

But first, let’s take a look at the show logo, designed by Anika Khan!

As for when you’ll be able to hear it… Inexplicables launches here on Friday April 2nd at 6pm GMT, and will release weekly for its 6 week run! In just under a month, you too will discover what Meredith and Harold found out when they heard of their mother’s passing and headed north.

We are really excited to be bringing this show to you, and hope you enjoy it as much as we have in putting it together. However, we would like to remind folks that Inexplicables is a dark comedy show and this means it's quite different in tone from other things we've done. As such it features frequent swearing, plus occasional scenes of unsavoury behaviour and situations of a more adult nature than our other shows to date. We will be putting content warnings in the shownotes, so please do check them on release.

Reminder also that we are still looking for YOUR favourite clips that you’d like Alex and Jonny to talk about in an upcoming retrospective episode. If you have a particular moment that you’d like to hear about from MAG001 up to MAG189, fill out this form by this Sunday, 14th March, and tell us about it. We’ll be curating a selection from the submissions, and recording what the two of them have to say about them.
