Not One, Not Three BUT Five New Frights.
Added 2021-05-10 08:02:59 +0000 UTCHi folks,
I hope you are all doing well! Callum here! Tagging in on this week’s newsletter to give you two special announcements.
Announcement one. We’ve just launched a network. The new RQ Network is a podcast network by podcasters for podcasts. RQ Network will initially focus on the best of audio drama podcasting. Starting with our first wave of five shows: Cryptids, The Deca Tapes, How it Ends, Old Gods of Appalachia and The Storage Papers.
It has been a real labour of love pulling together this cohesive collection of the best audio drama content for your listening pleasure. This first wave is themed around cosmic horror, mystery and found footage, with the aim of appealing to fans of The Magnus Archives. Future content waves seek to focus on comedy, action and more.
We hope you will join us in welcoming these interesting and award winning podcasts to Rusty Quill and that you will take the time to listen to them over on www.rustyquill.com
Announcement two. We’ve overhauled our branding with help from Guerilla Communications a skilled design and marketing agency based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. We’re really excited about the results and feel this is a brand we can be proud of. One that is reflective of the journey we are taking as a company.
Rusty Quill has had the same look since 2015 and it certainly felt like time for a refresh. We are a very different company now from what we were back in 2015. But, we are still the same people. We are still driven by the same goals. We also still stand for the same values as when we launched! We hope this branding evokes the creativity, passion, and whimsy of Rusty Quill, while championing the high-quality speculative fiction that we are known for. All while staying true to our roots and the core values that have driven us from the beginning.
If you want to know more about these two pieces of news you can read more here or keep your eyes on the public Rusty Quill feed of your choice because today at 4pm BST as The Magnus Archives, Rusty Quill Gaming and Stellar Firma will all host an announcement by our Founder and CEO Alexander J. Newall. Additionally, we have also lined up an extra stream over on RQ Streams from Mike LeBeau where he will set aside some time to talk about the new network around (hopefully) reaching the end of his fan favourite playthrough of Alien: Isolation.

Thank you, Oya. The Discord is overwhelming for me so I really appreciate you reposting the answers here. I was confused by this announcement too. 🙂💜

2021-05-11 19:03:40 +0000 UTCShort answers if you don't want to go through the Discord, because these are good questions I also wanted to know about: 1. "Network" means RQ will be providing marketing, advertising, and distribution support. Control of network shows remains with their creators. 2. Patreon support remains exclusively earmarked for RQ shows/projects/staff; the network is "self-sustaining" and financially separate from this Patreon 3. RQ will still be creating their own shows.

2021-05-11 06:33:13 +0000 UTCAutumn answered several of these questions in the RQO Discord server (they're pinned) but you can also email RQ to get a clearer answer! The Old Gods crew also made a video about what this means from their perspective.

2021-05-10 23:45:05 +0000 UTCThis is awesome news and I’m excited for Rusty Quill to grow and help other podcasts. I’m just confused what this means for Rusty Quill the podcasting company. Are you all still going to be making podcasts? What does this mean for our Patreon support? Does it just go for this new network or how will that work? This announcement was great for letting us know about the network but it raises a LOT of questions about the podcasting side of things.

2021-05-10 15:06:20 +0000 UTCCongratulations! This is great news and I'm a lot more inclined to check out any show with the RQ stamp of approval on it. Still, it would be nice to get a teaser for new shows that are in the works, or at least an idea of when we will finally get to know more.

2021-05-10 14:35:28 +0000 UTCThe Spotify embeds from the news post don't work in all countries. Not a big issue, since the shows are available elsewhere, but it's a little annoying.

2021-05-10 13:30:34 +0000 UTCI don't really understand what "network" means in this context, and I'm hoping you will expand on and clarify this announcement. These are already-existing shows, available through all the usual podcast sources, so what does it mean that they're now part of the RQ network? Also, does this mean that our Patreon support will now go to these other creators? Does this mean RQ will no longer create its own shows once SF and RQG wrap? Is RQ just a brand now, lending its name to other people's creations and sharing the revenue? I've been eagerly awaiting an announcement of RQ's new creative projects. I'm sorry to say this isn't what I was hoping for. But I'm trying to reserve judgment until it's clearer what this all actually means.

2021-05-10 13:20:48 +0000 UTCCongrats! As a heads up, the subscribe button for the newly added shows on your website doesn't appear to work quite right, at least not on mobile
