Springtime, spiders, and solutions

Hi folks,

Wishing you the very best for the coming week from everyone at Rusty Towers! Here in the UK, we’ve now moved from Greenwich Mean Time to British Summer Time and spring has definitely sprung. There has even been some lovely sunshine for us to enjoy while we can!

First off this week, we’re aware that some of you have recently had some issues accessing some of our older Patreon content. We’ve been investigating and the issue seems to have arisen after some back-end updates by Patreon, which affected how certain items were filtered. We’re working with Patreon to get this corrected and, if you find you’re having issues accessing a piece of content, please do let us know via the Patreon message system. Thank you for your patience while we get this fixed.

Next up, we’re really pleased to announce another new Patreon exclusive show: Azu & Cel: Problemagicians! The year is 18-*mumblesomething*. After the events at London’s Elizabeth Tower, the world may have been saved but something has changed (please don’t post any spoilers in the comments!). In this strange new world, there are a lot of brand-new problems, but ‘Azu and Cel: Problemagicians!’ are here to help. (Well, technically, they’re sailing around the world, but through a complicated network of carrier-seagulls, they are “here”, waiting for letters!). Similar to Stellar Firma, each episode’s problem will be user-submitted, and that’s where you come in! Using the attached form, send us problems you think people in the post-218 RQG world might have that only Azu and Cel’s specialist skillsets can solve. Perhaps a London architect is seeking a new career after their buildings were destroyed, but isn’t sure in which direction their career could take them? Or maybe some recently displaced scholars are seeking a new direction for their studies? If you’ve got a problem you think could be solved by science, healing, counselling (or all of the above), use the following form to submit it. Please be aware the form will contain spoilers for episode 218 and the epilogues, so if you’re not up to date, proceed with caution. Find the form at this link. The form will initially be open until 10th April 2022.

Our Patreon bonus this Friday is something a bit different to usual. Maddy Searle, upcoming GM for Chapter and Multiverse, has undertaken some serious investigative reporting into something that haunts Rusty Towers. You may have heard whispers (or read tweets) of it and for a long time, it was an open secret for all RQ crew. Into the Spider Curse will separate fact from fiction, delving deep into the heart of a web of rumours, truth and… spiders. Maddy asks the question: what is the so-called ‘spider curse’? She will be speaking to several RQ employees about their experiences, including CEO, Alexander J Newall, Patreon producer, Katie Seaton, and more. Is the spider curse real? Find out on Friday.

Later today, we have the third episode of Compulsory Film Appreciation – this week, Hartro and IMOGEN are watching Free Guy! Meanwhile, on Enthusigasm, we’ll be talking about Graphic Novels: joining Helen is Marisa Ewing, an editor at Rusty Quill, Rhys Tirado, Tech Assistant and co-star of NPC, Gavia Baker-Whitelaw, co-host of Overinvested podcast and a staff writer at the Daily Dot and Ben Meredith, a performer in numerous RQ shows including upcoming Chapter and Multiverseand a game designer.

The form will initially be open until 10th April - I've updated the newsletter to include this. We'll then sift through the responses and pick our favourites. Unfortunately, due to the volume of submissions we receive, we won't be able to include every problem sent to us.

The rest of my afternoon is going to be wasted on me trying to Focus on my masters degree while actually just thinking of a even slightly cool submission for problemagicians

MarlaBothBothIsGood

Oh lowde, I've read many an amusing distressing tweet from Alex about the spiders that stalk him at Rusty Towers, but there are more?? The concept of Problemagicians sounds SO fun and just this description is already bring cheer to my heart (thanks, Problemagicians!). And I'm dearly looking forwards to recs from the EGSM episode, especially since I expect the guests' tastes to p much correspond to mine! :D

sAZAndorable

okay *WHAT* This sounds *amazing*!!! omg I need to come up with something cool as a submission. Is there a deadline? Also will it be first-submitted, first-featured, or will you read through them in a kind of vetting process?

Franzis-Frantic-Thoughts

Oh, I am BEYOND excited for all of this!

Ollie of the Beholder

Problemagicians sounds like an incredibly cool concept, im looking forward to the release! Will the suggestions be a big pool that grows forever with people submitting ideas? Or will there be different times the form can be submitted?
