Its not that I like Bertie, it's that I like James portrayal of Bertie. Also it helps that I don't have to put up with Bertie as well. Plus it's fun seeing him go over the top with the stereotype.

It was definitely James, and I think what made it work was that James didn't like Bertie either. Bertie as a character took himself seriously, but the players and the audience as a collective could laugh at how ridiculous he was. It sort of felt like Bertie was the butt of a joke he didn't know was being told.

R.E. Bertie: It's James, it's definitely James. It was a vicious, hilarious overblown and yet deeply accurate send-up of every floppy-haired privileged Tory **** I've ever had to endure.
