EGSM 4: Hobbitry and other joys (Lord of the Rings)

Comments

Agreed! (Because that's basically me everytime the films get mentioned! )

Mother of Ferrets

This was lovely but what do I have to do to get a whole episode of Sue Sims going off about how they treated Faramir in the films

Chloe Chavarria

What an excellent group of people on this episode! I’m not especially invested in LotR, but I could listen to everyone here talk about it for hours. Sue Sims is a treasure, obviously, but everyone had such interesting and insightful things to say. I’d honestly love an episode on the Narnia books someday. Lewis comes up so much in the LotR episodes and it would be fun to hear perspectives on his writing as well.

Cammieo

Oh this was incredible to listen to. It’s so interesting to hear the different perspectives. It’s been a recurring hyperfixation for my entire life and getting to listen to all of the guests and Helen bring different facts and interpretations was so nice to hear

Perry

sue is just like "idk if anyone's interested but im a huge tolkien expert" and we're all just "mrs sims PLEASE tell us everything you know or we WILL cry"

Lindsey Bradford

I loved the variety of knowledge and viewpoints each guest brought to this episode!

Oooh, delicious! The various inputs and anecdotes were lovely, and I'm joining the chorus about wishing Sue Sims would come(/is coming) back for more episodes!

Cassidy

This was such a great choice of guests for another ep on this topic, hearing the perspective of Sue from before even the Silmarillion was published was so interesting and unexpected! And while I'm always extremely satisfied when people say the thing I was thinking or bring up something I like too (thanks Helen!), I am also finding myself becoming a fan of Jeffrey just from the amount of times I go "oh, I'd never thought of that, interesting!" at their points whenever they're in an episode xD

sAZAndorable

I'm not sure what I expected but it was not Ostrogothic discourse. Wow.

Dr Lou

As a lifelong LOTR book and movie fan, this ep went a long way to scratching an itch I was not even aware I had. Lovely discussion and keen insights from all three guests, but a special thanks to Sue Sims on her personal/educational experience shared! Will join others here to ask she be invited back. Great work, Helen and RQ Team !!!

Tobi Ballard

Which organ do i have to sell to have multiple addional episodes made to invite Sue Sims back so i can hear her talk about random things again? Idek much about lotr but this was lovely and interesting to listen to, im excited for the rest of this season :)

sandra

The indignation over the treatment of Faramir is incredibly valid

Petition to have Sue on more often? ❤️ I love hearing her thoughts so much, she has such a wonderful wealth of knowledge

Rebecca Paalanen

What a lovely discussion. Really appreciated Sue's insights.

Lark
