Trick or treat

Hi folks,

Happy Hallowe’en week!

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who has bought tickets to our Gaming & Giving virtual space on Gather. There are just a few tickets left, so please order now to avoid disappointment. You can buy your tickets at this link. Keep an eye out for more RQGG news and updates in this newsletter and on our social media channels.

To celebrate this, the scariest of seasons, our very own Alexander J Newall and Helen Gould are making a special guest appearance on a Hallowe’en Special RPG actual play on RQ Network podcast, The Town Whispers! Joining them will be John Ware and Muna Hussen who write and produce The Silt Verses, Cole Weavers who writes and narrates The Town Whispers and the whole game will be GM’d by Maeltopia’s Mark Anzalone. With so much talent in the room, this is not one to miss – you’ll be able to listen on The Town Whispers feed, as well as on the feed for The Sleep/Wake Cycle with episodes launching later this week - keep an eye on our socials for more information.

On Midnight Hallowe’en night, The Witching Hour releases on the EA Podcast feeds. This special one-hour presentation of PseudoPod stars Imogen Harris (I.M.O.G.E.N in Stellar Firma) and Alasdair Stuart (Peter Lukas in The Magnus Archives). The Witching Hour will also feature contributions from our own team and The Storage Papers team alongside a host of other podcast talent.

As awards seasons continues, we’re delighted to see our RQ Network shows winning some very well-deserved awards. Firstly, a huge congratulations to Wild Obscura (Nora Unkel, Devin Shepherd) and the rest of the Cryptids team including Gabriel Rosenstein and Writer Alexander V. Thompson for winning ‘Best Audio Drama’ at the Paranormality Paranormal Podcast Awards. Meanwhile a huge congratulations to Old Gods of Appalachia and the whole DeepNerd Media team for their double win of ‘Best Audio Drama or Fiction Podcast’ and ‘Best Overall Podcast’ at the DiscoverPods Awards.

We have two fun topics this week on Enthusigasmhorror and pirates! Discussing horror books with Helen on Thursday is Annie Fitch, an editor at Rusty Quill, Fay Roberts, voice actor and Daisy in The Magnus Archives, Martyn Pratt, Rusty Quill’s Chief Technical Officer and Tai Lawson, Rusty Quill’s Chief Finance Officer. They’ll be discussing everything from the meaning of fear to Goosebumps and Hellraiser. Next up, we’re talking all things pirates, from the real history of pirates versus the East India Company to pirates in the media. Join Fay Roberts, Jeremy Enfinger, creator of The Storage Papers and Nemo Martin, the writer behind Rusty Quill’s new piratical podcast coming next year, Trice Forgotten.

Meanwhile on Rusty Quill Gaming this week we have the final part of our Hallowe’en Special, The Quiet Year. Next week, we will return to the rooftops of London and the main campaign. There are just a few episodes left until the end of this long-running show – if you’re behind, now is the perfect time to catch up!

On The Magnus Archives feed, we have the penultimate Rusty Fears 5 winner – Tower, written by Jennifer Hunt and read by Fay Roberts. The structure was unearthed from the dirt and dust by a storm, but what will be found as they dig ever deeper? After next week’s final Rusty Fears 5 story, The Magnus Archives feed will be going quiet for a while. We’ve loved producing behind the scenes and horror-related post-season content, and this pause won’t be forever, but as we begin to work on new projects, we need to give our production team the time to work on them.

Finally, here’s a weekly transcript update. As always, this is available on our website.

Update 25/10/2021

Enthusigasm continues to launch with transcripts.

We have prepared the correct storage and back up locations for our transcripts in preparation for sharing over 500 transcripts with you all in January.

Our transcript company have been keeping up a great pace on delivering the episode transcripts. The finished transcripts we receive do still need to have content warnings added and will be reviewed for quality. We continue to work towards a January release.

very excited : ) "[RQG, last few episodes...] if you’re behind, now is the perfect time to catch up!" - yep, it's only just 137 episodes for me now (incl. specials), no problem!: I started three weeks ago - I am now finished with season three - I just need three more weeks (with about 40hrs listening a week) to catch up - no problem, I've got this (I won't let a third Podcast "finish" just a few days/weeks before the final episode (happend to me with TMA and Stellar Firma soo...)) Thanks for all the awesome content btw : )

really excited to "meet" Nemo via Enthusigasm, and looking forward to the end of the Quiet Year Special! a question though, about the transcripts: will they also be for the RQG Specials? and will they be uploaded as subtitles for the YouTube version of the episodes?
