One of my favorite movies for cinematography is Dredd with Karl Urban. The use of slow motion capture especially, which is both fitting for the plot and used to such amazing effect.

Oh Birdman is wonderful for cinematography!

Oooh... This one felt very different, less fast-paced giddy energy -- possibly from the having only 2 guests and Helen's cold + lack of factual knowledge -- but that just made it very nice in a different way! Hearing both Mike and Liz infodump or wax lyrical at length about these things they know a lot about and/or really love was very relaxing, interesting and informative. (Facts? In this podcast??)
I remember putting on Blade Runner 2049 just for a fun action time and being immediately struck by the colours and the unexpected simple beauty of it. And the NGE anxiety-inducing long shots, yesss >=D
I want to rewatch Inception now! Some movies that come to my mind immediately in terms of cinematography are Cloud Atlas (the early shot with the clouds in the ponds!!) and this year's Russian movie Major Grom: Plague Doctor, which feels like every frame is gorgeous to look at and has a bunch of really fun, iconic camera moves.

Great episode! I'm a big fan of Guillermo del Toro and Into the Spiderverse. For cinematography, two of my favorite movies are Birdman and Bad Times at the El Royale.

I guess only being able to look at an episode about cinematography rather than listen to it is somewhat fitting? 😅
