Firstly, a quick update now that we are more than a week into our Kickstarter pre-launch period. We are blown away by the amount of interest in The Magnus Protocol and cannot believe we smashed our, in hindsight modest, targets within the first twelve hours. We now have over 10,500 followers, which is incredible. We’re aiming to go live with the full campaign in late November, taking the time to review user feedback, especially in regard to stretch goals, to double check the rewards we’re offering and to finalise the design and copy. Keep an eye on our socials for further updates, or you can also sign-up to follow the Kickstarter itself.
As well as prepping for crowdfunding, we’ve got some amazing new shows joining the RQ Network this month, so keep an eye out for these updates in the coming weeks. If you need something new to listen to, make sure to check out the RQ Network and RQ Originals on the Rusty Quill website!
Finally on Trice Forgotten Below Decks this week, we’re talking about building authenticity in soundscapes. Creator Nemo Martin is joined by Mastering Editor, Catherine Rinella and Sound Designer and Music Editor, Katharine Seaton as they discuss the full editing process from recording, to vocal cut, to soundscaping and music.

It's been so exciting watching the follower count rise, I hope and have no doubt that watching the actual funding campaign roll out will be even more heartpounding. What sort of user feedback are you looking for? I know everything that's been said so far sounds lovely. Personally I'm hoping for, but unsure how feasible any of it can be in practice: -Personal rewards/perks (as incentive to keep pledging when goals have already been met), be it physical or digital goodies or a thank-you message. Perhaps a limited amount of rewards like getting to name a character, specify a death, or ask for a statement about a specific topic? -Cool physical goodies more customised and unique than merch made by Redbubble/Teepublic/etc, like the enamel pins by Greer Stothers or the RQG dice. I still had rather not have anything featuring fixed designs for any character, but things like a From The Library Of Jurgen Leitner stamp, a Magnus Institute employee nametag, playing cards, Tarot cards, token coins, minis, plushies, music boxes, tea blends, maybe even small jewelry...? In collabs with small artists or artisans, be they beloved or unknown to the Internet... -Bonus episodes, extended episodes, etc. -Bloopers, recording recordings, Making Of, ... -Pics of the Admiral&Ser Pounce + Casper&Riley -Funding more cool promo artwork, music tracks, etc. [ETA] SAM SAM THE MUSIC MAN PLEASE RELEASE THE ALBUM OF OMINOUS SOUNDS! -Funding rewards for more fan contests like the fanart contest from... last year I think? -Old classics in the spirit of RQGG donation goals, like in-character-reads, gaming streams or silly challenges to Jonny, Alex, and the cast & crew. -Things like master classes or just talking-shop (live or recorded, interactive or not, ...) from Jonny, Alex, directors, editors, etc., about the technique of writing/editing/voice acting/making sounds/...? I still regularly relisten to the Q&As of Magnus and I would be happy to listen to an entire show of just Alex and Jonny talking about writing for an hour every week. Enthusigasm! about Magnus... -Hiring Idris Elba to voice Adelard Dekker (look, i know it was a joke, i know it's a 3+ years old joke, but i'll still bring it up every chance, very seriously!!!!) -Alex and Jonny go ghost hunting, actual show, multiple episodes, stretch goals unlock special locations and pay for professional ghost hunting gadgets (again, <i>not</i> a joke, 200% serious about this, please please please) -For £500,000 plus covering travelling expenses Jonny comes to your house and curses your fridge -For £600,000 plus covering travelling expenses Alex comes to your house to solve your spider problem by attracting them back with him to Rusty Towers

RQN has led me to so many awesome shows I never would’ve come across otherwise. It’s always the first place I send anyone asking for pod recs :) And it has been so cool to watch the RQN folks collaborating and promoting each other.
