Patreon Kickstarter Update #2

Hi folks,

As promised, here’s a second Patreon Kickstarter Update.

We know that the newsletter yesterday was pretty chunky, so we thought it’d be worth taking the time to go over some information on our Kickstarter separately from the regular newsletter.

As we confirmed both on Patreon and publicly yesterday, our Kickstarter launches at 4pm GMT today, with an accompanying livestream featuring Alex, Jonny and a whole host of special guests. We know that not everyone will be able to join us live, and we will of course make the VOD available. There will also be lots of very cool stretch goals and bonuses that will be revealed as we go through the campaign long-term, so those who can’t watch live won’t miss out on exciting reveals.

Firstly, to recap from yesterday, we are using a platform called BackerKit, which will help us to match up Kickstarter backers and Patreon members as well as other elements of fulfilment of campaign rewards. If you have any worries about this process (e.g. if you upgrade or downgrade your Patreon subscription, or have to cancel and resubscribe for any reason), please do email us at mail@rustyquill.com (comments on Patreon are easily missed, or lost, so an email is always best as it means we can save, file and forward it so it reaches the right person), and we’ll keep your information on file to double check when it comes to sort this particular aspect of the Kickstarter.

All Kickstarter backers will receive a survey from Backerkit for feedback and extra info. Kickstarter backers will also have access to Backerkit’s “Pledge Manager” a tool for upgrading and amending pledges. It will be possible for backers to add a free item called Patreon Pledge Boost in Backerkit.

As we mentioned yesterday, upgrades won’t be available on the highest pledges (as there is quite a huge gulf between £1500 and £5000, in the most extreme example). We will however try to provide extra bonuses or gifts if Patrons do back £500 and above levels.

Another reminder from yesterday, there will be a limited number of “early bird” pledges available. So, if you’ve registered to be notified exactly when the Kickstarter goes live, and are an active Patreon member when we do the final comparison, you can get a discounted pledge against a reward and also use backer kit to gain a tier level higher than what you paid for #doublediscount.

Any Kickstarter backer bonus episodes will be available to Patreons, not just people who donated on Kickstarter. The same goes for ad-free versions of episodes: Patreon is our space for ad-free versions of all Rusty Quill Original shows. Non-Patrons who donate to certain tiers of our Kickstarter will receive ad-free episodes of The Magnus Protocol, but we’re not going to lock these rewards away from our existing supporters. Patreon members who subscribe at the higher tiers will continue to receive ad free episodes of all Rusty Quill Originals. This duplication is another reason we are upgrading Kickstarter pledges of our Patreon Supporters as we will always strive to give our paid supporters the best deal.
