An incredible first week

Hi folks,

Thank you so much for the incredible week we had last week. Our Kickstarter campaign has now raised over half a million pounds, a milestone that whilst we were hopeful, we didn’t even dare to dream about this time last week. I don’t think we can overstate how grateful we are. Within one minute of launching, the Kickstarter was fully funded. Just like that, and for the most positive reason, every pre-written post, every social post pushing us towards our initial goal, every early Patreon update immediately went out the window. We just sat there, lost for words, as our total sky rocketed above our wildest hopes for the first 24 hours. So thank you, to everyone who donated, to every Patreon subscriber, to everyone who bought a t-shirt.

We have been updating our stretch goals throughout the week, and have successfully funded a UK Live Show. The next goal would be a UK tour, followed by a US tour if we hit £800,000. These have been highly requested by many fans over the years, and is something that the Kickstarter will allow us to do in the best, most professional way. You can read a little more about our plans for these in the public updates we’ve shared on the Kickstarter page itself, which can be read here.

Any live show will cost Rusty Quill money in development, travel, venue costs, props, staffing and more. Funds raised from the Kickstarter will go towards covering some these costs and other incidentals. We've seen a number of posts requesting that addition to UK and USA we add Ireland, Canadian and European dates as part of these tours and we are looking in to this as well.

Additionally, we are currently in discussions with third parties to try and arrange a recording and/or stream of a live event so that those who are unable or don’t feel comfortable attending can still participate. We intend that everyone pledging £200 or above will get free access to this stream/recording. However, it is important to note we will be working with 3rd parties on any live show to ensure any show is at once professional, safe and high quality as a result tour locations and live streams will be dependent upon interactions and arrangements with third parties. As part of these third-party discussions we are also currently planning how best to provide early access and discounted and/or subsidised live-event tickets to all backers and Patreon subscribers along with safe ways to offer Kickstarter and Patreon exclusive meet-and-greet opportunities.

Unfortunately, due to how busy last week was, and also because of some sick leave within the team, we accidentally missed the Friday bonus content upload. We’re really sorry for this, and are working to ensure that a similar thing doesn’t happen again. The deluxe transcript that should have been shared on Friday will now go out on Tuesday, and another instalment of Martin’s poetry will be shared this Friday.

Finally on Trice Forgotten Below Decks today, join creator Nemo Martin and historical consultant, Nira Wickramasinghe. They’re discussing everyday resistance, the slave trade and the erasure of the individual throughout history.

The dramatic conclusion of Trice Forgotten will air next week – thank you so much to everyone who has listened to the show. If you haven’t yet checked it out, now is the perfect time. Trice Forgotten is everything Rusty Quill does best, plus the incredible talent of the writers, performers, and our own amazing production team. We know that many of you will be asking about the future of the show, and please bear with us, as there are some discussions that won’t take place until the new year.

We will be hosting a Trice Forgotten wrap party for Patreon in January, so keep your eye on the horizon for more information on that in the new year.

As for what’s next once Trice Forgotten is finished, we can confirm that Cry Havoc will start releasing in the spring. This is to ensure our editing team are given a break between actively releasing shows. With that in mind, there will be a hiatus of public Rusty Quill content, however patrons will still have Compulsory Film Appreciation (leading up to a Christmas-themed finale) and some new patreon-exclusive episodes of Enthusigasm to enjoy.

Here is our full schedule for this week:

Monday 28th November

SEAS Below Decks 9 – Everyday Resistance (Patreon) (4pm GMT)

Tuesday 29th November

NOBLES bonus – Deluxe Transcript (rescheduled) (Patreon) (4pm GMT)

SEAS Below Decks 9 – Everyday Resistance (Public) (4pm GMT)

Friday 2nd December

NOBLES bonus – Martin’s Poetry (Patreon) (4pm BST)

Have a good week all!

I'm so excited about everything coming up! Everything about the Kickstarter and how quickly everything got smashed through is amazing! Also just want to say how nice it is to see that the folks behind the scenes get breaks as well as to not get overworked. It's not something seen every day, and its so lovely to know that rq truly cares.

Still absolutely blown away by the loyalty of the TMA fandom and just how quickly we were able to fully fund this Kickstarter! I had no doubt it could and would be accomplished, but to see the initial end goal be obliterated in just a few minutes was insane! Im extremely proud of everyone and I want to say a huge congrats to all involved. We've unlocked so many amazing rewards already but truthfully I'm ready hoping we can reach that US Live Tour stretch goal before it's all over. Keep working hard guys, you're legends.

I hope everyone's who sick recovered quickly. I cant believe were nearly at the Trice Forgotten finale! Sooooo excited by more Enthusigasm coming - I could listen to you folks geeking out all day! & a Magnus live show to look forwards to!!!!! Eeee!!!! This this all most excellent news!!!

Mother of Ferrets

I cannot wait for the Trice Forgotten finale! This show has gripped me in a way I had not foreseen. The characters are so well rounded and the reveals we had in last week’s episode still have me gasping when I think about them. The soundscaping and music as well are just so, so good and absolutely immersive. I would *die* for a sheet music patreon bonus content. (Not only of trice, but also of the other shows) Will the Trice feed go silent for after episode 10, or is there any post-season content planned, like QnAs? Oh I do hope you will renew this fantastic show for another season. It and CMV have been an absolute joy to listen to.

One more week until the Trice Forgotten season finale! I am feeling so much hype and so much FEAR. 💖💜🏴‍☠️This show is special to me and I truly hope we get more time with the characters. also can’t wait to get more Enthusigasm aka pure serotonin to get me through the holidays

I’m unspeakably excited for everything you guys are going to be able to make with these funds but more than that I really hope everyone at RQ is basking in the faith and love of the fans… because WOW. I have been living for all of the gushing heartwarming stories pouring into the KS and YT comments. Totally deserved. You guys work so hard and show so much care to your fans all the time, in every way you’re able. I just hope that you know that it’s noticed and appreciated.💛 This KS campaign is definitely one of the best-thought-out crowdfunding experiences I’ve ever had. Thank you for thinking of everyone, for being so prompt about KS related questions and providing ways for fans to get involved outside of pure donations. Thanks for bringing all of the talent in RQN to the forefront of thousands of fans attention! And thank you for keeping us up to date, and for the extra streams you’re throwing in even though we didn’t quite break those early raise goals. I understand RQ streams won’t be back the way that it existed in the past but boy, the KS streams so far have really reminded me of how nice it is to have all the fans together for one big love-in. They’re huge morale boosters for me personally and it’s been a joy :) and now we have a bunch more to look forward to in the coming years!! It’s really heartwarming to hear that you all are as enthused as your fans are. And you’re right, Trice is a shining example. I’ve said it before but this isn’t even a genre I normally gravitate towards — I just know that any RQ production is going to be phenomenal. Never has an RQ show failed to make me cry. (in a good way) You are all MASTERFUL and, in my humble opinion, trustworthy storytellers. I can’t wait for Cry Havoc, more Trice (hopefully) and everything that comes after. AND MORE ENTHUSIGASM!!! I’ve missed it so much! Hope Lowri and anyone else who’s been feeling poorly is on the mend, and that everyone at RQ is in great spirits. Much love! xx

Does this mean that come next week Trice Forgotten will be finished or is it the end of one season with more to come? I prefer to listen only to finished stories so I am asking because I would gladly binge it if it's done but if some new seasons are foreseen then I will wait until all are done.

Sorry if you've explained it somewhere already and I just missed it, I have a question about patreons being "upgraded" to higher tiers. from what I understand, that's only the case with 200 and under tiers? so if I chose a 500 tier, I'm not getting anything extra?

This is so lovely to read. Thank you for openly walking that thin line of listening and answering to fans' requests while taking care to managing expectations and explain why you can make no promises. I'm most likely going to be able to attend the UK show and/or tour, but crossing fingers in hope for my USA-based friends to get a chance to enjoy that experience too! Also, PHEW, I thought tonight was the TF finale and I sadly wasn't able to catch up this weekend as I'd planned to. Booking an evening this week to do so and be ready for next Monday!! Even with a couple episodes' delay, though, I'm super excited and enamoured with the show, it's truly a shining display of what RQ can and will do with all the skills and talents at hands and I'm in love with Nemo's brain (platonic). Concerned but excited to find out what happens to my shipful of beloved disaster meow meows (and their accidentally acquired menagerie). And yay for new show to start the next year and surprise EGSM to end this one!
