Writers of the round table
Added 2022-12-12 16:01:48 +0000 UTCHi folks,
We hope you have all had a fantastic week.
This week, we’re busy preparing for the final stretch of our Kickstarter campaign, and also for a short break in public releases over the holidays, to ensure our production team have a break between our productions. In the meantime, we will continue to share Patreon content both with Monday newsletters and Friday bonus content.
Thank you so much to everyone who listened to the final main episode of Trice Forgotten last week – the response has been beyond positive. We’re delighted that you enjoyed the ending, and have loved seeing some of the fanart that’s being shared from the whole series. We have one final Below Decks episode releasing today on Patreon, where writers Rafaella Marcus, Morgan Givens and Nemo Martin chat about the creation of the whole series; so there will be loads of spoilers!
We very much hope that you will be able to join us on Sunday at 17:30 BST for a third livestream celebrating The Magnus Protocol. If you’ve got a question about the production of The Magnus Protocol, please ensure you submit it to our form soon. Send us your questions using this form!
Finally, we’re pleased to welcome a new podcast to the RQ Network: Circè. Circè is a science-fiction/fantasy podcast from the team behind Ostium. This adventure story follows Thyrá, a sorceress, from the planet Albion. Thyrá has lost her ability to do magic. In an attempt to regain her abilities, she tells the story of her life, and how she learned to become known as one of the Circè. This is the story of the highs and lows of her life, the tragedies and the celebrations, and the eventual meeting of the woman she loves, who she will one day return to. Circè is written and produced by Alex C. Telander. You can listen to it wherever you find podcasts, or on the Rusty Quill website.
We spoke to Alex to find out a bit more about the show.
Tell us who you are and a bit about Circe?
My name is Alex C. Telander and I’m a writer, and the creator and writer for the Ostium Podcast and the Circe Podcast. The Circe Podcast came about from a character on Ostium who, when I explored them a little further, realised they had their own story to tell. The result was Thyrá, who after the events at the end of Ostium season four, wants to get her magical powers back, and to do that she records stories of her past. In this way we get to learn of the planet Albion and how Thyra came to be a sorceress of the Circè.
What got you into podcasting?
After listening to shows like Limetown and the Black Tapes, I thought I’d try my hand at writing an audiodrama. The Ostium Podcast was the result of that, and now I love writing podcasts as much as I like listening to them.
Without spoilers, what are you most proud about Circe?
The story and the characters that have come out of it. I’ve put a lot of world building into Circè, and even created my own unique magic system for it, as the characters have continued to develop and grow in the world, and it didn’t take me long to realise there will be many more seasons of Circe to write and tell.
