EGSM 34: Pew pew! (Star Wars)

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Alasdair, Helen, Katie, and Sasha got together to talk about the Star Wars universe! What are these films about, how big of a mess did the Jedi make of everything, and what is the Force, anyway?

EGSM 34: Pew pew! (Star Wars)

Comments

I’ve never seen any SW at all and never particularly wanted to but I think I’m finally seeing the appeal. Maybe I’ll finally pick up one of the movies soon… Love listening to you all get to rant about your very favorite subjects :) It’s always such a lovely time.

Ultimately, the Star Wars movies is about a family. That's it. That's all.

My delightful British friends, you've missed it. On the question of What is Star Wars About? It's about a ragtag rebel force fighting an underdog battle for independence against a giant, oppressive, colonizing Empire. I mean, everyone on the Death Star has a British accent. Come on now. --With love from I Don't Want to Be American But Here We Are. (And yes, Solo was great. I don't care what anyone says.)

"Delighted to be among my people" is how I feel every time I listen to this show. 💜

Mother of Ferrets

Alasdair, Katie, and Sasha had some great thoughts and insights for this episode. This was one of my favorites!

I spoke outloud even more than usual in this one YES FINALLY PEOPLE WITH MY SAME VIEW OF ROGUE ONE (my fav) AND SOLO AND YES FINN WAS DONE SO DIRTY (and, also, I know this is an impopular opinion but I loved the idea that he deserted bcs he realised It was awful, that powerful idea of someone realising the rules they are under are unfair and rise againts them, just as a person, so hopeful, and then..."oh, yeah, you could notice better bcs of the force")

MarlaBothBothIsGood

I loved this episode, especially the extended discussion of the symbolism and role of Tatooine within the franchise. And I wonder...because Star Wars is what George Lucas chose to make because he couldn't get the rights to Flash Gordon (and let's be honest, because it's one of my faves) would anybody at RQ be up for a show about the 1980 Flash Gordon movie? Maybe with a bit of compare-and-contrast?
