January Good News

Hi folks,

We’re now properly back after a very restful holiday break. We hope that you’ve also had a good few weeks.

At Rusty Towers, we have begun to sort through the metaphorical “pile” of admin now that the Kickstarter campaign has wrapped up. We’re currently waiting for Kickstarter to process the funds (this will be taking a little longer than usual due to the holidays), and then we can start to send out the BackerKit surveys so that backers can make any final adjustments to their pledges. We’re still regularly updating our Kickstarter page, and our most recent post answers some FAQs we received over the holiday break.

We’re also busy on pre-production of The Magnus Protocol, with planning for the show now in full swing. At Rusty Quill, this involves some incredibly detailed spreadsheets to keep everything on track through writing, recording, editing and mastering, ensuring that there’s space for any unexpected delays. Co-creators Jonathan Sims and Alexander J Newall are also currently finishing the “show bible”, a document that will cover the full scope of the show, including characters, lore, and other key bits of information about the universe (for example, the inspiration for the location of the Office of Incident Assessment and Response, which was revealed in our most recent livestream).

Meanwhile, at the end of last week we shared our highly anticipated “wash up” of the codes and ciphers we shared ahead of the announcement of The Magnus Protocol, plus some behind-the-scenes information on how we created them. You can read it now on our website.

Judging has officially started on our Rusty Fears 6 writing competition. We know this is highly anticipated, but please do bear with us – we received closed to 700 entries, making this our most popular writing competition by quite some margin, so reading these thoroughly and shortlisting the winners will take us a little bit of time.

We were delighted to find out today that The Magnus Archives was voted “Best Audio Drama Podcast” in the Pod Bible Poll Winners 2022. Thank you to everyone who voted for us: it is humbling to see that the show is so well-loved over a year after the main story finished.
