Patreon Kickstarter Update #4

Hi folks,

We just wanted to share a short update on The Magnus Protocol Kickstarter!

BackerKit is fully ready now on our end and is awaiting a manual review. This is a normal process that BackerKit provides to ensure the surveys we send out ask all the relevant questions and work as intended. We will also be utilising a “smoke test” on BackerKit, where 5% of backers, randomly selected, will receive their surveys early. This again will allow us to check the surveys are working properly. If you’re one of the 5% who receive their survey in the next few days, please do send us any feedback you have via BackerKit – your input is invaluable.

Once we’ve made any final adjustments required, everyone else will receive their surveys. The BackerKit surveys will be running until 31st March, so you have until then to make any final changes to your pledge, change your address, adjust the size of a t-shirt, and add extra add-ons. Please note that enamel pin badges, dice and microphones have extremely limited stock numbers, so if you would like to add one we recommend filling in your survey at your earliest convenience to avoid disappointment.

Speaking of t-shirts, we’ve been working closely with the fulfilment partner, and they will be ready to start shipping within a month of BackerKit closing. However, please do keep in mind that there are over 4000 shirts to manufacture and ship, so not everyone will be receiving their t-shirt at the same time. Some shirts may not physically be able to be sent out until closer to the release of The Magnus Protocol. Thank you everyone who purchased the design.

Similarly, the Rusty Quill Gaming dice add-on will be ready to ship very shortly after BackerKit closes – thank you to everyone who supported this product.

We are having fortnightly meetings internally at Rusty Quill to discuss the fulfilment process of every aspect of the Kickstarter, from the t-shirts and pins to the stretch goals. We’re especially excited about the recent meetings between the Kickstarter and Events teams, where we’ve taken the first steps towards planning the season 1 premiere for The Magnus Protocol and liveshow tour of the UK. While it’s too early to announce anything, the plans are looking very cool.

Finally, one of the stretch goals we’ve already started working on is the fanfiction showcase, where Jonathan Sims and Alexander J Newall will read short extracts of a selection of The Magnus Archives fanfiction. This closed today, so now we will start the process of reading and reviewing the submissions. We’ll be announcing more details about this livestream further down the line so keep an eye out!

Similarly, while not strictly part of the Kickstarter, you’ll be pleased to know that we’ve finished the shortlisting process for Rusty Fears 6, whittling almost 700 entries down to just 50. Our next job is to select the final six winners from this list. As always, we were blown away by the exceptionally high standard of entries to our writing competitions, making our shortlisting judges’ lives very difficult! Rusty Fears 7 was unlocked as a reward during the Kickstarter.
