Streams, space and superman

Hi folks,

Wishing you the very best for the coming week from everyone at Rusty Towers!

Firstly, we have an exciting update from our The Magnus Protocol Kickstarter campaign. During the campaign we had several stretch goals that were unlocked, one of which was the fanfiction showcase we shared a few weeks ago. Now we’re ready to announce the next one: An Audio Fiction Jam livestream with Alexander J Newall. Join Alex on Friday 31st March as he creates an entire audio fiction in just three hours. It’s going to be a lot of fun, plus a very interesting insight into what goes into creating a show, and the steps Alex works through when writing and producing. Join us on our Twitch channel at 4pm BST. The clocks will be changing here in the UK on 26th March, so we strongly recommend double checking how that matches up in your timezone on the 31st. Alternatively, make sure you’re following our Twitch channel, as you will get a notification as soon as we go live. We can’t wait to see you there!

Meanwhile, a huge thank you to everyone who entered our fanfiction showcase. Our team is now working their way through the entries to shortlist our favourites ahead of the livestream with Alex and Jonathan Sims. We’ll share more information on this livestream closer to the time.

We’re very excited now that recording has officially begun on Neon Inkwell, our upcoming anthology podcast featuring short series from writers around the world.

We can share an exclusive behind-the-scenes photofrom a recording of Of That Colossal Wreck, written by Sasha Sienna and Jonathan Sims. Five artificially grown people wake up on an abandoned space station, long after the extinction of humanity. They must confront their purpose, their future and the carnivorous alien beings who have overrun the facility.

(Image description: A screenshot from a remote recording session for the Neon Inkwell short series, Of That Colossal Wreck. Eight people are in the call, most of whom are wearing headphones and sitting in front of microphones. In the top left of the image is April Sumner, the Executive of Production. The performers are: Hannah Raymond-Cox (who previously featured in Inexplicables), Kate Sketchley, Euan Shedden, Aaron-Louis Cadogan (who is in our upcoming show, Cry Havoc! Ask Questions Later), Catherine Luff, Ellie Dickens (who is in our upcoming show, Cry Havoc! Ask Questions Later). The director is Maxamillian John.)

We will, of course, keep you updated as production continues on Neon Inkwell.

Over on The Magnus Archives podcast feed this week, we’re very excited to be hosting a feed-drop episode from RQ Network show, The Program Audio Series. The first episode from their mini-series, The White Algorithm’s Burden, will be available to listen to on the Magnus feed tomorrow. This fictionalised true crime story subverts the tropes and expectations of the genre, exploring how the existence of “The Program”, an entity which is money, state and god fused into one, effects how one small town deals with a series of disappearances. When children start to go missing, and you suspect your son might have something to do with it, what would you do?

Content warnings will be in the show notes, and due to the themes and genre of this short series we do recommend you check them out prior to listening to the episode. The full three-part short series, plus many more, are available to listen to now on The Program Audio Series podcast feed, on the Rusty Quill website and on The Program’s website.

Finally, this week’s Friday bonus content for Rusty Knights and Nobles is another episode Enthusigasm! Joining host Helen Gould this week is Rusty Quill’s founder and CEO, Alexander J Newall, Harry Roebuck, who will be playing Gaius in Cry Havoc, Vic Zander, who played Baker in Trice Forgotten and Shahan Hamza who played Siva in Trice Forgotten. This week they will be discussing DC Comics.

Have a good week all!

The Program Audio Series is so good! Loving it so far!

Hi there! Yes it will be. Twitch saves the recording of the livestream immediately after the stream ends, where it can be watched for a period of time, and we'll also be aiming to upload the stream to our YouTube channel the following week.

Oh I should add: The Program is amazing!!!! I can’t wait to see more people talking about it, the miniseries of episodes mentioned here is possibly my FAVORITE part of the series so far (but yes, definitely mind the content warnings!)
