Action, acting and audio fiction jamming

Hi folks,

Wishing you the very best for the coming week from everyone at Rusty Towers! The clocks have changed here in the UK now and we're officially on British Summer Time. This may effect the times you see posts from us, and the time our livestream will start on Friday, so please double check how things match up in your timezone.

It’s a very exciting week here at Rusty Towers. Firstly, as we mentioned last week, we’re really starting to wrap up the fundraising aspect of our Kickstarter campaign for The Magnus Protocol, and start with fulfilment of the rewards and stretch goals. The BackerKit survey closes on the 31st March, so if you haven’t responded yet, please do so as soon as you can. If you’ve ordered the t-shirt add-on, we’re hoping that our partner will be able to start shipping out those within a month of the survey closing. However, please do keep in mind that there are over 4000 shirts to manufacture and ship, so not everyone will be receiving their t-shirt at the same time. Some shirts may not physically be able to be sent out until closer to the release of The Magnus Protocol. Thank you everyone who purchased the design.

Similarly, the Rusty Quill Gaming dice add-on will be ready to ship very shortly after BackerKit closes – thank you to everyone who supported this product.

Meanwhile, don’t forget Alex’s Audio Fiction Jam will be taking place on Friday at 4pm on our Twitch channel. Join him as he creates a fiction podcast from scratch in just three hours. If you can’t make it, there will be a recording available both on Twitch and on YouTube after the event is over. We can’t wait to see you there!

The first season of RQ Network show, We’re Alive: Descendants, comes to its dramatic conclusion tomorrow. If you haven’t listened to this ground-breaking series yet – and maybe if you’ve been enjoying zombie-related media lately – We’re Alive follows the survivors of a zombie apocalypse. In the original series, set in the immediate aftermath of the outbreak, the focus is on survival in this new world. We’re Alive: Descendants is set eighteen years afterwards, as the children of the original survivors begin to make their way in this new world. The outbreak may be in the past, but as the infected start to evolve and relationships between groups of survivors start to become strained, something dark looms on the horizon.

To celebrate the season finale, the team were kind enough to send Rusty Quill patrons a message, including some fascinating behind-the-scenes content.

Hello Rusty Quill Patrons! We are Wayland Productions, creators of the post-apocalyptic audio drama “We’re Alive” and its spin-offs! If you have a hankering for action, horror, and “zombies,” we have you covered. We’ve been at the audio drama game since 2009, and we’re thrilled to be continuing the tradition alongside the RQ team with the sequel series to We’re Alive, called We’re Alive: Descendants.
We’re so grateful for the support and response we’ve received so far, and we’re excited to bring season one of Descendants to a roaring conclusion. It’s been a long, rewarding journey. Chapter 9, released in January, was our longest chapter yet clocking in at over two hours overall! Chapters 10 through 12 are in the works, and the whole season will be completed in March.
The links below will redirect you to some behind the scenes footage shot last year. We have a few more videos like these on the Wayland Productions Patreon page, as well as other bonus content.

If you’re interested in checking out the show, you can find us on your podcast platform of choice under “We’re Alive,” or at our website werealive.com. As they say in Westport, “Stay Alert, Stay Alive!”

Finally, for Rusty Knights and Nobles on Friday this week is another episode from season 3 of Enthusigasm. This week, Helen is talking about acting with guests Ashley Goh, who plays Inez in Trice Forgotten, Imogen Harris, who plays IMOGEN in Stellar Firma and Helen in The Magnus Archives, and Sarah Agha, who will be playing Charmian in Cry Havoc! Ask Questions Later. They’re discussing how they fell in love with the craft, the theory behind how they approach performing and more.

Have a good week all!

Watching that Audio Fiction Jam vod either gave me three extra years of life or yeeted them from my total in sheer sympathetic stress, what a delightful rollercoaster. If there's anyone adding effects to the recording before posting on YT, I would be deeply amused for a running counter for all of poor Chewie's stress whines in the background, those really added to the whole experience.

Descendants has been amazing… if anyone is looking for something to binge, We’re Alive has a humongous backlog and the story just keeps getting better. Thank you for all of the updates! Friday sounds like it’s going to be incredibly fun :D

as an eternal theater kid I’m so excited for the next Enthusigasm!

Does this mean those of us who ordered the dice sets when they originally went on sale a year ago will also have our orders shipped soon? I would have hoped those orders would be shipped first.
