Ending epilogues and Protocol previews

Hi folks,

It is such an exciting week here at Rusty Towers! Not only do we have the finale, extra long episode of our roman comedy podcast, Cry Havoc! Ask Questions Later, at the end of the week we will be sharing the very first look at the pilot episode of The Magnus Protocol. Both of these projects have been in the works for a very long time, and are the culmination of the incredible hard work and dedication from our teams of writers, directors, performers and the production team. Both Cry Havocand The Magnus Protocol – whilst very different in style and tone – show Rusty Quill at our very best. We cannot wait to share both of these episodes with you.

If you aren’t able to attend The Magnus Protocol in-person celebration in Manchester, Rusty Quill will be at this year’s London MCM Comic Con on Sunday 29th October, where we’ll both be available for a free Meet and Greet and will be hosting a panel. As for the digital premiere, Knights and Nobles will be able to watch a video right here on Patreon of the pilot episode of The Magnus Protocol on Sunday 22nd October. The digital premiere includes a preview of the pilot episode, an extract from our Making Of documentary, and an exclusive Q&A with Alex and Jonny about the show. For Rusty Citizens and any free members, there’s still time to upgrade your pledge this month so you can see the premiere too. Fans who donated to the Kickstarter at Archival Assistant level or above will also receive access to the digital premiere on Sunday. We do ask that you do not share spoilers or clips of the pilot online or in any digital spaces, as this isn’t fair to those who are waiting until the January 2024 release to enjoy the podcast.

Admin aside, we are so excited with the return of Magnus, dipping our toes back into the horror genre just in time for Halloween. In this, the inaugural episode of The Magnus Protocol, Sam starts a new job at the Office of Incident, Assessment and Response.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, we say farewell to Cry Havoc with an extra long episode. All roads lead to Rome and the stage is set for a mighty comeback. Everyone has their part to play – whether they’re aware of it or not… We’ve had an absolute blast working on this historic sit-com. If you’re the type of person who prefers to listen to things all in one go, now is your time! Cry Havoc is – in our totally biased opinion – is perfectly crafted, historically sound (mostly), laugh out loud funny and heartwarming all in one gorgeously soundscaped and scored half hour audio drama. So much incredible talent has been involved in the making of it and a huge thank you and congratulations should go to lead writer David K Barnes, director Amani Zardoe and the rest of the cast and crew on producing this really special show. We’ve mentioned this a few times in the last few weeks, but if you’ve enjoyed Cry Havoc please consider leaving a rating or a review and recommending the show to your friends.

Our Friday Backstage episode Lowri is joined once again by Dr Emma Southon, the historical consultant that we worked with on the show. This week they’re discussing the proscriptions in Ancient Rome - where a notice could be posted listing citizens who had been declared outlaws and whose goods were confiscated - which hugely inspired some of the last few episodes of Cry Havoc. There will be one further episode Backstage next week.
