End of Year Update

2024 has been incredible – thank you so much to all of you for your support and for listening to our shows this year.

Of course, it’s been a great year for horror fans, with The Magnus Protocol launching in January. The reaction has been immense, and seeing the wonderful comments, theorising, fanart, fanfiction, and the Bonzos has been humbling. We ended the year seeing Magnus in thousands of people’s Spotify Wrapped, in the top ten Web Series on Tumblr and ranking number 19 in the British Podcast Awards Listener’s Choice Vote (thank you so much to everyone who voted!). Season 2 is on the horizon next year – if you haven’t already, be sure to listen to the digital premiere for an early look at the first episode before it is released to the public!

Neon Inkwell has also been a joy to work on this year, with three short podcast series now available to listen to on the feed and more on the way. Neon aims to showcase shorter stories from a wide variety of genres, featuring the work of creatives from around the world. So far, it’s hosted an existential science fiction horror by Jonathan Sims and Sasha Sienna, a dark paranormal comedy by Tom Critch and Alexander J Newall, and a coming-of-age story about cults, sacrifice and the freedom to choose by J Evelyn Gaskell. In the last few months, we’ve been hard at work on several other shows, which are all at different stages of production. These include Welcome to Fosters, by Imogen Cassidy, about a small-time private consulting wizard, and Broken Hearted Monsters, by Shane Ormond and Morgan Ormond, about a road trip with your favourite classic movie monsters. Excitingly, we’ve also recently wrapped recordings on a further show: Rez High, which follows a group of teenagers in a dystopian Britain looking back at the past. We’ll share more updates with further information on all of these next year!

Finally, we are delighted to announce that in 2025 we will be starting production for season 2 of Trice Forgotten.

For those of you who may not have listened to the first season, Trice Forgotten is a historical tale of pirates, treasure and science. Captain Alestes (Rebecca Brough) doesn’t want any more crew members – she can barely make enough money for her and her adoptive father, Baker (Vic Zander), to stay afloat. However, when stowaway cartographer Siva (Shahan Hamza) bursts into her life, she is unable to leave him in her wake. As Siva pulls more people into her life – and as those people become her friends – Alestes must face a choice: will she build safe harbour with her new network of allies, or will she once again put her head down and drown in her sea of excuses…

Whilst we can’t give a launch date yet, we can confirm that Nemo Martin and Rafaella Marcus are returned to co-write the project alongside director Kazeem Tosin Amore – who you may know as the voice behind Teddy in The Magnus Protocol and Mark Antony in Cry Havoc. Keep a weather eye on the horizon for more news next year about the return of your favourite seafaring, science-loving shipmates.

If you want to catch up, or re-listen to this piratical story, you can find Trice Forgotten wherever you find podcasts, on the Rusty Quill website, or ad-free right here on Patreon.
